I have a 1990 20 hp evinrude short shaft that I am going to put up for sale. It was only used once per year on vacations when da boys were young. Anyone know where I can find an estimated value price for it. I dropped it off at my marine mechanics just to give it a once over so I can prove it's in good shape. This way a buyer won't have any doubts about it's condition.

It's been sitting dormant in my shed for some years now without being used.

Thanks,

Lee

  • "Seems like time is here and gone".....Doobie's
Average retail for a long shaft of that year is $625, Lee. (With electric start) If it's like new, I'd ask around $700 or so for it. Only downside I can see is it's a short-shaft.  Just depends on finding the right person, I guess. I put my pristine 1997  RebelSS on the dreaded C-list last year....and it was sold in 20 minutes..... for $500 MORE than I paid for it brand new, out of the showroom........19 years earlier. No kidding.
Just depends on who's looking...put lotsa pics of it out there, that's what seems to do it.

Theres a BIG market for shortshaft motors in Montana,Wyoming an Idaho! Course I'm 500 miles closer to that area,Small boats 12, 14.16 ft.ers for trout lakes. I when selling dirtball 2s 16ft lund got twice the price of what minnesotans wouldnt pay! Then the guy bought a 35 evinrude SS for 1000.00 a 1984 model. and he drove here to get what he said a great deal!! Had 3 other guys from those states buy SS motors,I could buy a longshaft cheap and look for a drive shaft used off a SS get 2-3 hundred more than a long.
Prices on a bluebook site are always really low!! Look around yer area for marine dealers and see what they may be going for!!! It'll knock yer soxs off comparison to some bluebook prices
So now you know what I have posted and honestly stated I will buy it at a decent price.Course I'll resell it advertised in those states,What you take for it as the lowest you'accept?
Keeping America clean and beautiful is a one mans job,Mine

It's not an electric start so I'm sure it's worth a tad less. I forgot to mention that :bonk:

Just the basics, there Lee. Like I stated, depends on WHO's looking for WHAT. Always a market for just about anything.

With a picture of it and a bill from the mechanic I would think you could get a premium for it Lee.  Don't under price it.  Maybe even go $800 or $900.  Would be fun to see if you get any action.
