What are some of the tricks and tips that you have done to help catch fish?

One thing I have done for a while is to wrap lead core line around the back hook of poppers.  The weight on the back hook will cause the lure to sit up a little on end and when you jerk the lure forward the pop (splash) is different and will also dart and then keep moving  (slowly the back end sinks).

I've drilled tiny holes through the front body of Rapala lures, which made little bubbles when trolled fast. Also bent and gave a slight twist to the front metal "plate" on some lures, giving them more erratic action. Also replaced some treble hooks on lures with a smaller size for quicker action.
