I have a question about the Long Prairie River.  Is it navigable by 16' boats?  I see it is called a canoeing river.  Is it deeper north of Browerville?  Have thought of buying a place on the river but I want to at least have a 16' boat and or a pontoon on the river.

Thanks Mike.  So what I wonder is how close to the Crow where it ends up do I have to get to use a 16' boat?

I filleted a bunch of red horse suckers one year.  It was early spring on the St. Croix.  Caught them from our 32 foot houseboat.  We had a fish fry a month later and absolutely noone knew they weren't walleyes.  Funny as heck..  And yes they tasted fine.

LongPrarie only canoes an kayaks..Good duck jumpin in either.Boat cant make it through to many obsticals and narrow in spots the Crow wing below Staples I dont know above a boat can float fish with a motor but only in some chosen spots rapids and shallows boats cant go through but some places can fish a few miles its clear and shallow not to good fishin mostly small fish. Kayaked it from Pillager and a boat cant do that area either that was a shoret float maybe 4-5 miles wide spot to wide spot 2 lakes I forgot the names?
All rivers I been on in that area are canoe/kayak only shallow, rocky and narrow

Thanks Dew.  The more I have read the more what you said is right.  Darn.  I used to canoe a lot but kind of like motors these days.  We may have an opportunity in the Long Prairie area but I may need more water.  I have been able to jump in my boat when I want and that would be hard to not have.  I do see some small lakes in the Lincoln area.  Will check them out.

Sandys relitives live around Wadens,Staples area we thouhght of moving there at one time. What stopped me was the fact there are so few lakes in the area. One of the few areas in Mn that you have to drive 50 miles to get to a decent fishin lake.Living on a lake I need to be if not on water real close!!

I hear ya Dew.  Here I thought one could have a boat and outboard on the Crow and maybe the Long Prairie.  I am not so excited about the area now.  Last resort I am wondering if there is some mile long stretches that are deeper in the Browerville area?  Something that may hold some walleyes or nords during parts of the year.

A place on the Mississippi near Little Falls would be awesome.  That is if the wife will drive that far to work.  She says 30 miles would be ok.  That is to Long Prairie.  No job yet but getting ready in case.  Hate to leave here so need something we like or we won't move.
