Well, maybe they are going to build a military base up there, like in the Pacific.

Yeah, I don't know if there is any direct benefit to landing on the moon, but you sure do gain experience in making spacecraft in the process.

Once someone has the capability to knock out all the GPS and communications satellites and the desire to do so, we're all f'ed.
