Chunk up a lb of good 85/15 burger. Toss in pan with a handful of diced onions and about a 1/3 cup diced green pepper. Add some seasoned salt and black pepper. Brown over medium heat. Pour off any grease. Add equal amounts of ketchup and Hickory BBQ sauce. (I use Baby Ray's) Stir well, cover and simmer on low for about ten minutes. Serve on kaiser rolls or sesame seed buns. Goes great with a few ears of that sweet corn.  :tongue:

For a bit of zing, use the Baby Ray's Sweet and Spicy sauce with the ketchup. I just ate two now....num num!  :tongue:

That "sloppy Joe" thing has always bugged me.....I grew up having "bbq's on a bun".
Just what IS a "Sloppy Joe" anyway?! Who's Joe? Why is he so sloppy?! I think that misnomer was invented by the school system hot lunch program, as just like on Friday's we'd have a dollop of Ken-L-ration flavored with a few drops of pizza sauce on a toasted half bun, called "Pizza burgers".... :puke:

Umm...maybe 1/2 cup of each to start? I have the burger chunked up pretty small and spread across a 12" pan. I just squirt the ketchup back and forth across the meat, then the BBQ sauce. Then just stir it up. I don't like a ton of sauce so the meat swims in it...adjust to yer liking.

Just remember to cover it and simmer it on LOW for at least 10 mns.... :tongue:

I like a dill pickle slice or two on mine... :smiley:

Made a good point Reb.  Adjusting the sauce level is important.  Like you said you don't want to put too much sauce in there so the meat swims in it.  just enough to coat it or the texture is gone.  i like it the same way like when I make pulled pork.  good luck.

I made up a sauce I call "Butcher Sauce".  One cup ketchup and one cup Western Salad Dressing.  I add a little apple juice to thin it a bit.  good luck.

onions are in ther, no peppers didn't have one, and I usually make for all to enjoy in the family.
