Anyone headed up RT. 6 through Emily next Friday for the deer opener is welcome to stop by our rented cabin for a quick visit and a cup of coffee.  If you come when we're eating, stay for a bite.  We're once again staying at the Lake Emily Resort on Hwy. 6 on the south end of Lake Emily on Dam Road.  We'll be in and out all day as we do a little scouting and get  last minute stuff in Emily at the grocery store and at Redding's Booze and Bullits.   If you see a greenish brown Explorer parked at the second free standing cabin on the lakeshore, that's us.  Stop by and say hi.  Always nice to meet a forum member.

Glen-I'm going up Friday morning. I'll be unloading at the cabin, and then heading to the woods for most of the afternoon.  I've got a  portable blind to set up, and I'd like to get out of there before the deer start moving late in the afternoon.  All I can tell you is swing by and see if my truck's at the cabin.  If it is, I'm back.  We've got five guys in for the opener this year.  Should be a good time, although the locals are saying the wolves are pretty thick around those  parts this year.

My wife and I went up yesterday to do some scouting, and I'm glad we did.  My trail into where  I hunt is flooded out.  I was  going to take my deer cart  all the way back to my stand location, but will have to leave it about a 1/4 mile short.  I don't want to drag it through the bush to get around the flooding.  Lots of scrapes, just getting opened up.  Looks like they're just starting up there. No woofie tracks, which is encouraging. Looks like the unofficial management plan of shoot, shovel, and shut  up by the locals is making a difference.

Ya Gophergunner,  Don't know exactly where you live but we have the same problem north of Duluth.  We have around 300 acres of public land we hunt.  As I have said before we have been there for many years with nobody bothering us.  Due to all  the rain this year half of that is cut off for us.  Lot of standing water and even with ATV's it's not possible to go through the trails we normaly go through.  Probably froze over now but don't want to take a chance and go through some of those dips.  But still enough area for us to hunt.  good luck.
