    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
A quick winter update for the hardy fishermen wanting to venture out. No ice all the way up to around Charlie Creek so open water on Oahe. The boat ramps are open around Pierre so my friends from Rapid City Jim Randash and Mike Kulm along with Dave from ND came over for a few days of winter fishing. Day one on Oahe they put in at Little Bend and kept 8 nice fish then day two went on the river (Sharpe) and got limits (12) of nice walleye. On Oahe they lost a real big fish and heard of an 11 lb. and a 13 lb. fish being caught and released. They caught all of the fish on either Jig/minnow or Jigging raps and plastics. The fish were deeper on Oahe (40 fow) and around 20 fow on Sharpe I will mention if you are going out it is better to go with another boat as break downs can be dangerous this time of the year. A mild winter so far but this next week looks nasty. I have heard of a lot more teenage size walleye being caught than I have for a long time so this spring should be really interesting.
