Not long ago this topic came up,seems merrel foot wear was the top dog, well I've had my share of merrel shoe's/hiking boots, very good quality foot wear.comfy, water proof with proper water rellelent, they breath so no sweaty feet, but they wear out fast, lack of foot/ankle support in my case

But my favorite shoe for the the 5 years have finally started to fall apart, been on the search for them since cabrla's quit caringing them, this special and super comfy shoe is "Meindl" they make/build hunting boots as well, they use nubuck hide rather than leather,I have high foot arches so the cork insole gives my foot great support, super lite weight at 2.2lbs,they also insert a shock absorbing gel into the  vibram sole.

Oh most important, not made in china.

ON the spendy ($210) side but long lasting, and super comfortable if anyone is interested, check them out

Yup, Oboz are pretty good. They wear well and are comfortable.

Hmmm, never herd of "oboz" but looking into this shoe...

I have an issue with this~

Oboz footwear is currently sold in more than 1,500 stores around the world. The shoes are made in two factories in Vietnam and distributed from a warehouse in California, leaving the Bozeman office to handle everything from sales and marketing to customer service.

Well, ya could tie "My Pillows" on yer feet....made right here in Minnysoda by a nimrod!  :doofus:

Just looked at my Merrill's...."made in Vietnam". Most casual shoes are...I think.
maybe they could give shoe-making jobs to all those incoming guests.

Bought two pair of red wing hunting boots one year, always travel with extra boots, sweaty feet, water etc...feet gotta be comfy and dry...got home with my winger's,started putting water repellent on them, then I was hit with "made in china" tag, pissed I tried to return these boots,no go as I added camp dry.

My merrils are years old, still going but lack the foot support I want, agreed comfy shoe/boot but get squeshy after break-in...

Going on 10 years two pair of these meindl walking shoe's,finally got a flat tire, now considering a 3rd pair,of these walkers, lord know's I put the miles on.

Agreed Reb merril low cut shoe and hiker type boot for the $ are a good buy,in my case I'm looking for better quality/foot support...like everything else you get what you pay for.

I just thought I would bring back to life this thread from a while back.

Well, after 3 major spinal surgeries and laminectomys, 3 knee surgeries, needing a new total knee, and the ortho Doc recommending the Merrills, that are the only ones that allow me to walk a ways, I haveta say I can't imagine anything better after all the shoes I've tried. Wearing a pair of Nike Air pro-walkers with gel inserts right now, and I swear the Merrill's are better and far more comfy. Whatever works for ya, though. Everyone's different.
