Great few days bow hunting

Lots of deer, great weather and good time with a friend and my son. No we didn't make a dent in the deer population either. 
The bucks we saw were mostly small from spikes, forks, and sixes except one big one that approached my son just before lose of daylight. Unfortunately it was too dark when it presented a broadside shot at 30 yards. He said he was still shaking when he met me to head out.  This is some of what keeps you coming back.  I saw a nice 6/8 on Friday but couldn't get him to come any closer than 50 yards.  My friend saw around 20 deer this morning.  I wasn't too far from him and only saw 9 or so.  Here's some pictures to help get you fired up for your seasons whether it's bow, gun or muzzleloader.

Had a noisy visitor. Just glad he didn't pick my tree.

Saturday evening I picked a more open spot. No deer came.




Saturday evening at a spot bucks gather to size each other up.  A little early for this activity.

Had a pileated 'pecker start banging on a tree near me opening morning of gun season. 

It was clear, cold, and crisp and the sound traveled forever.  At first I was worried about the noise scaring away deer, but then figured that deer hear those guys all over all the time. 

When we got back to the car for lunch everyone was wondering who in the h3ll was working on their deer stand during prime time.
