Good friend from ND is always on the hunt for adventure, this spring after his paddle fish adventure landed him a 100lb+ monster,he decided after many years on researching the giant alligator gar in texas,he loaded up a couple friends and headed south to the trinity river somewhere in texas.

they caught many gar, lot's of action every hour ,these toothy critters made it a challenge to get a good #8-0 hookset(treble hooks) bait was cut bait/bobber setup,80lb braid 300lb leader wire.

he said this river bank had more trash than he had seen in iraq along the shoreline ,trashy ppl as well but they went about there business in hopes of a monster  gar,and they connected
it was 80-90degrees everyday, not one person in the river cooling off and after viewing his fish I can see why...yikes.

Even tho the locals claim these fish were great table fare, both smoked or steak fried these guyz released them, they had a small window to fish/days on the water, didn't want to mess around cleaning fish and cookouts.
