Got back late yesterday from a 3 day hunt in South Dakota, we hunted near Huron for one day then moved about 30 miles North to follow the flock we had found.

Had 6 guys in the group and I bet we shot 20 snows per day per guy, not real good in comparison to some of the reports but I think we all had "GOOSE FEVER".

Got to Dismitt Wednseday afternoon and started chasing a flock of about a hundread.
Got ahead of them and set up in a walk in area with just minutes to spare befor ethe lead goose came over the horizon.

Called till our lungs hurt to get them to swing our way, they came right in and set on top of us.

Thursday and Friday we were hunting with the guides and three guys from Missouri  who have been following the migration up.

Had several flocks swing by, with one huge flock set in and give us the oppertunity to rop a good number of birds.

Saturday morning after getting up an hour earlier than usual to drive 30 miles North of Huron, we found the guides trucks and got out stuff ready for a second chance at the same flock.

Thier runner followed them most of the night till they set into a field for the night.

They then moved thier spread up above the flock and had us right in  line with the geese when they got up in the morning.

What a blast to see how they tracked them and got set up so fast, then have us on birds with the first wave of the day.

Had to leave for home that afternoon, but the guides and the three from Missouri were going to follow them as far as they could.

I brought home about 20 geese and gave away about 40 to a few friends on the way back.

Can't wait till fall to chase the dark geese around.

You ever want to tag along man, let me know, its a lot easier having a couple of guys to set decoys out than just one two, especially guys that dont just do the dump the truck method.

Yes it was a great time , though expensive with the guides but they do a lot for the money and I didn't have to buy any decoys or bring my blind.

My hunting partner called me tonight and left an exited message about going out to Browns Valley later this week.

He must have had a report of geese headed that way, hope I have enough vacation time to get one more trip in.

The SD limit was 20 per day, unless they changed it this year.  So not sure what you meant by "not real good"...  20 per day per guy in a bigger group of guys is outstanding.
God, help me be the man that my dog thinks I am.

There were three guides there as well, they can each take a limit to.

If the next day doesn't pan out they give you thier birds, so you go home with your posesion limit.

They had another group on a different field, about 20 guys in the group.
Man did they have the birds racked up there.

Sure glad I didn't have to clean their birds, it took me forever to clean my 20 each day.

I wish I could show pictures, but I didn't pack the camera.

We left on a short notice and I was more worried about the gun, shells, decoys, food, beer, and more beer than a camera.

I guess I have so many old pictures here of hunts gone by I never remember the digital to post pic's with.

Sorry, Benny
