Maybe a silly question. I have several plastic 55 gallon barrels, open top, to catch rain water. Water is used only to water our smallest garden and sometimes fill a bird bath or two.

If I pour a couple ounces of bleach in that water, will it kill mosquito eggs or larvae? Will it hurt the birds?

Also, I read that mosquito eggs are deposited above the water line. If I wipe down the inside of the barrel down to the water line with bleach, will that destroy the eggs?

What do you think?
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.
