Long Prairie, MN (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Long Prairie River at Long Prairie.

The warning is in effect from this afternoon until early tomorrow afternoon.

At seven this morning, the Long Prairie River was just below the six-foot flood stage at Long Prairie. It is forecasted to rise above flood stage by this afternoon.

The weather service says above-normal temperatures have melted all the snow and that is causing rivers and streams in central Minnesota to run at or near bankful.

There are reports of lowland flooding and water running across some secondary roads in central parts of the state.

i would expect rainy river to be the place to be here in the next couple days... and this weekend it should be packed.

Thinking about going to get the canoe this weekend.  Thinking about taking a quick (really quick) trip down the mississippi this weekend.  Won't need no paddles or trolling motor this time.

I know i cant learn it all here, but was wonding on advice or tips?, i just moved to minn a few yrs ago,, and would really like to go to the river for some good steelhead fishing i keep hearing of,, so any advice on gear , times , areas etc would be greatly appreciated, Thanks  all

 :)  you are in the right place for steelhead, trout and salmon . the time is soon ! so i would be checking with the local bait shops and any fishing clubs that mite be in your area.  love to fight those steelies on light or ultra lite gear! what a tangle they will give you .  goodluck .

sucker is still frozen tight... south shore, brule is going... north shore look to about easter weekend.  the water is roaring, but not fishable yet.

might get on the St Croix here real soon....... the mississippi has to much crap floating down on it besides I aint into 3 headed fish  :ROTFLMAO:

The upper Croix is raging pretty good right now and isn't navigatable.  The St. Croix at hwy. 94 was full of ice last weekend, but I suppose it's open now.  The walleyes'll be hot to go as soon as you can get out there and chase them...jigs and minnows/plastics are productive.
