need help with yamaha moto 4

i got a 88 yamaha yfm200dxu moto 4 wheeler.
it had a big problem idleing, rebuilt the carb,
got a new carb same prob...checked the intake
tube everthing ok.
now i have no spark. anyone had a service
manual i can borrow?

I have had the same machine for fifteen years and it has always run like a champ I'll never part with it being it is so quiet and light I wish they still made them that small. My neighbor got the same machine two years ago and has put alot of work into his I will ask him about it and get back to you. sometimes it is finicky and I need to leave the choke flipped up all the way or it dies

my brother sold me this before he moved
out of state with the idleing problem.
thought for sure carb problem. not!
i have rode this machine when it was running
good and i liked it.

If you lost spark now, it might be the CDI box or the coil?

If it was getting intermittint spark that could make it sound like an idle problem.

If you are near a libreary, they may have a shop manual there?

Ebay might be a good source to find a cheap manual as well.

might sound silly, but check the basic things first off, like...yep I've done this myself, the fuel level, check to see if it will run with the fuel shut off in any position.

the spark, get a new plug. stay away from champion. I have had more trouble with them right out of the box, including one spark plug that didnt even have threads!
they will work in a pinch and you will find some that will give you no trouble at all, but I have seen trouble with them more times than I care to remember.
nippon-denso or ngk or bosch will do you well.
if that checks out, you could have a bad capacitor discharge ignition box, but they are sorta spendy new, so it is generaly the last thing we replace. we go thrugh all the other things first.

if he gets tired of working on it, ask him how much he wants for it the way it is. I might be interested.

fuel flow is good out of the line, ngk plug.
bought it for the wife, small enough for her to
handle. tried the library, no luck there...

 My neighbor I told you about does not have a manual.He said he will check with someone who might. Well you know how that goes.I wish I could help out more but if I can't fix it with a hammer I'm lost. He did say it is a coil thing though.Good luck They are nice little wheelers.Don't dump it. Once it works you will be glad you got it.
