Has anyone ever done a study on the income potential of the Red Lake Band selling licenses to fish on tribal waters?  Just my opinion, but I think they would make more money just offering fishing on their portion of Upper Red than they would with the commercial fishing.

Great point!

Open the waters to anglers with a special license.

Does anyone know what is in Lower Red?? Gigantic Crappies?

I'm not sure who is in control, but I remember these forums years ago on other sites.  Makes you wonder why they don't look into MANY options as far as their privileges on reservation land.  The opportunities abound.  I am thinking the trbal leadership is lacking.  There are so many ideas to pull these folks from the plight they are in, but someone needs to grab the bull by the horns and be a leader.

I am no expert, but would be willing to donate my time and energy to help bring some of these ideas to life.  I guess the first step would be finding out if they have any interest.  I agree with you UncleDave -- there are so many ways to help, we just need to take the first step.  If anyone knows the best way and person to contact, I am willing to get started.
