Hey everyone, my wedding anniversary is coming up, and I was just wondering if any of you guys out there had any great ideas for a gift for my husband.  What was your favorite gift you ever got from your wife?  Any ideas?  Of course my husband is big on anything outdoors, fishing, hunting etc., but for some reason I am at a loss this year as to what to give him.  Seems after all these years, I'm actually running out of things...We don't spend a lot of money for our gifts for each other, so like a new boat, or gun is not what I am looking for.  Just thought I would see if anyone had any good ideas.  Thanks, Renee aka GirlGuide

Hi Greg, Thanks for the reply, and that is exactly what we are doing this weekend.  My in-laws are taking the kids for the weekend and we are heading up north on Friday!  So you kinda read my mind!  I was just curious to see if anyone had any great ideas, or what their favorite gifts in the past were.  And I didn't post this on the Pout site, because I know exactly what all the guys would say on that one !! ;)  I'm sure my husband would appreciate all those responses though, ;D   But thanks again for responding, I really appreciate it! I cant really think of anything better than that either!

Hi BoneHead!  Power Tools is one thing my husband has tons of, he is a carpenter.  I wouldn't have any idea of what kind of power tool he doesn't already have.  I know if I could think of one he doesn't have, he would probably love it.  I just don't know enough about them, or what he could actually use.  I suppose I could ask him though.  Home Depot is his favorite store, next to Gander Mountain and Cabellas of course.  Thanks for the idea Bonehead!  By the way, I looked for you on the chat last night, but I must of missed ya. Hope all is well with you!  Take Care!

Hi Renee
Nothing says... "Happy Anniversary Honey." ...like a Fawkinnae t-shirt.

Actually I kind of like Big Slick's idea.

Other good ideas include:
graphite mount of his best walleye, smallmouth or crappie
guided fishing trip on a special lake
$100 gift certificate to the Electric Fetus (best CD/record store on the planet)

I'll try to think of some more. Good luck.

Okay, if he's an ice fisherman, I got a cool "toy" at the Sportsman Show in St. Paul that is one that probably none of his buddies have.  It's $40 and more than most of my cheap arse friends would spend, ensuring years of gloating as a sweet toy.  It's a locally owned and manufactured product!

It's called the Lure Lightning.  Made in Ham Lake.  It's a device that INSTANTLY charges an ice fishing jig and it screws directly onto the post of any (as far as I know) common depth finder for ice fishing.  I love it.  A toy my friends ask to use over and over during a weekend.  You can even push the button with your foot for ultimate laziness (no bending involved).

Check it out at http://lurelightning.com  I have nothing to do with these folks honestly.  I just met the two guys at their booth at the show.  I will let you know if I ever start shlupping my own goods!   ;)

If he's into movies, a bunch of us have been listing favorite movies.  My kid is watching Jeremia Johnson right now and it reminded me of this thread.  HEY!! WHY AREN'T I WATCHING IT WITH HIM!?!?!?!!?

GOTTA GO!    ::popcorn::

Thanks for all of the ideas so far guys.  I like the idea of a first date, that could be fun.  And the t-shirt could be another extra bonus fawkinnae!  Also I plan on checking out the post of the favorite movies and I loved the lightning gadget, we don't have one of those yet, and I'm all about the gadgets!!  If he had something for me to mount for him I would do that too, but we don't have anything right now, or not yet anyway!   All great ideas.  Many thanks to you all!

LOL, you think you have proplems, I know a couple that have been together for 70 yrs. He is 101 and just got his driver license back after the faimily some how got it canceled so he wouldn't drive anymore.
I'm a bit older then you and your hubby but the best gift me and the little lady can get is a few extra days alone in a camp ground. If you are talking somthing for just him then go with a certificate at his favorite sporting goods store.  When you have kids at home a certificate can go along ways towards saving a little more to get waht you want.
By the way congrats on your ann.

Thank you TripnChip, a gift certificate is always a great idea!  And time up North alone even better, and that is actually our plan for the weekend!  What more could we ask for really?  Inlaws are taking the kids for the weekend so it should be really nice. And thank you for the Congrats!  Have a Great Day!

A trip - or even your encouragement for a trip is always a good idea.

One year at Christmas we hung Mickey and Minnie on the Christmas tree with a little note tucked in each hand informing the little Jackpines that we were going to Disney.

For Dad's 75th Birthday the sisters and I put together a little brochure informing him of a lake trout trip to Canada (very affordable, and Dad and I are heading up in June).

For our 20th anniversary I showed up late, tossed a card on the table and fired up the grill, interrogating the kids about homework and unwrapped a few steaks, as Mrs. Jackpine looked lost, depressed and morose.  That is, until she opened up the card and the plane tickets to Florida tumbled out...

Trips are always cool, and if you hunt around a bit I'm betting you can find something that you would both enjoy and not break the bank in the process.

Trips are great and anything you buy would be too.. What you are looking for is a more meaningful gift,, something to show how much you care about him.. You could spend a million dollars and not succeed.. You need something from the heart, something not overly pricey and above all something he will remember.. My wife gave me a sterling silver fishing spoon,, a daredevil lookalike, with my initials engraved with the date.. I have it hung on the wall of my fishing room, and I never forget..  QG

Started visiting regularly a month or two ago.  I see CW found her way over here also.  We'll have to get Chev and the rest of the boys checking in - we can trash this place in no time!  Before you know what happened there will be empty Drools and a discarded intern in need of more duct tape....
