This email has circulated quite a bit in the last few years since gas has gone to assinine levels, and now that it's on the rise again, I have had it sent to me again and I anticipate we will all see these samples of how relatively cheap gas currently is.  Lucky us.  I'm glad Chavez and Opec are selling us this CHEAP gas.

One minor issue...
True I'm sure.  The major problem that I have is that I'm 39 and if I was granted 10 lifetimes I would never drink 20 gallons of Vick's, Bepto Bismol, Scope, (maybe), etc.  I do that at least once a week for my truck.  I will spend $250-$350 a month in gas, can't say that for everything listed combined.  I'm sure these other companies are doing fine, but I KNOW the oil companies are making RECORD profits.  I don't buy into the hype that we should be happy at $3-$4 per gallon gas as reasonable because milk costs more!

P.S.  Look forward to the new administration adding at least $.10 per gallon in new taxes (another $2.00-$2.50 per fill per week for me).

Another look at gas prices...

You will be really shocked by the last one (At least, I was)!!!

Compared with Gasoline......
Think a gallon of gas is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective:

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59....$10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25...$10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15....$33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35...$178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85...$123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39...$25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99...$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49...$21.19 per gallon!

Ever wonder why computer printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink
at....you won't believe it...but it is true...$5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)

So, the next time you're at the pump,
be glad your car doesn't run on
water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil
or God forbid, Printer Ink!!!!!

The only thing on this list that i have to have is brake fluid, the rest i can live without, none of them are must haves.

The list does not make me any happier about filling my Suburban with 42 gallons of gas at $2.75 PER GALLON.

I hate that e-mail because of ONE THING...

What is the "usage" you get out of mouthwash vs. Gas?  A gallon of mouthwash will last you months.  A gallon of gas get's me about half way to work.

Interesting statistics but I think it's all relative as to how much of each you use or consume on a regular basis. Most of the stuff on the list I would consider "optional" items but I have to have gas to get from Owatonna to Rochester and back home again for work everyday. I drive 106 miles round trip to/from work 4 days per week in my own vehicle (Chevy Impala 30 mpg highway=14.13 gallons Unleaded per week) and an additional 190-200 miles per day on my FedEx route in my Grumman Freightliner (9 mpg average city/highway=86.67 gallons Diesel per week==>>diesel costs even more than Unleaded these days).

Considering these numbers, I go through 100.80 gallons of fuel each week:
14.13 gallons unleaded at 2.75 per gallon = $38.86 per week or $9.72 per day.
86.67 gallons diesel at 2.95 per gallon = $255.68 per week or $63.92 per day...I'm sure glad I don't have to pay for THIS ONE myself.

I think due to global warming concerns, we are getting away cheap!  The Minnesota Dems are pushing a mere $.10 hike in gas taxes (forget the free air tax)?  We are getting away cheap at $.10!  The lousy Dems are doing us short at a mere $.10 per gallon tax hike.  I feel shafted.  $20 per month in extra gas taxes for me seems short when spending a $2,000,000,000+ tax surplus.  ::)

I still think it a bad deal when a person gots to get a second job just to pay for the gas to get to their first job.

::dito This whole argument is weak and irrelevant. Gas prices suck... thats it. I can, and will complain about it, not because I am a baby, but because I know that they don't have to be as high as they are... The other argument that I am sick of hearing is how high prices are in other countries in comparison to the USA. The only thing that proves is that they are getting screwed too. I don't want to pay more $ than inflation and the sensable markets says I should. The fact of the matter is that Pepto has noting to do with gas. I bet a gallon jug of gold costs allot of money too, but my car doesn't run on gold or pepto, and I don't go to the gold station twice a week, so I can go to work or school. The comparison should not be made between gas and pepto or anything else. It should be the comparison between gas and  ... I don't know... maybe GAS!!! I Know gas under $1, and I'm only 23 years old. If the Candy bars I used to buy @ 50 cents were now six bucks, I wouldn't buy candy bars... but then again if my car ran on candy bars I think I would... Different things are worth different prices depending on there need, but there is also a thing called a fair market. Gas tripling in price in 10 years is not my definition of fair. The crappy thing is that our lives revolve around gas so we do need it, more than gold, more than pepto more than even our beloved CANDY BARS, but the market is still not fair, and as consumers we are being exploited.

But a rarely buy that crap that is listed.  If I forgo buying all of them so be it.  But without Gas I can not drive at all.

I went through 280 gals of gas on 2 trips to hunt S&Bs--and that just plains sucks as it is THE biggest expense of the hunting trips.  :taz:

THE "REAL QUESTION "  IS WHY ??  WHY SO HIGH ?? RECORD PROFITS FOR OIL COMPANIES . WHY DOESNT OUR GOVERNMENT DO ANYTHING ?? NOT ONLY DO OUR CARS AND TRUCKS NEED GAS , BUT TRANSPORTATION , TRUCKING , BOATING ,  CRUISE SHIPS  ............  AND THE LIST GOES ON .
WHY ISNT IRAQ  COVERING SOME OF THE EXPENSE OF THE WAR  BY SELLING US OIL AT A MORE REASONABLE PRICE ?
THE FACTS ARE SIMPLE ,  AND THE COSTS OF LIVING ARE ON THE RISE   WHILE  COMENSATION  IS STILL TRICKLING . SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE . (AND I DONT MEAN THE WORKING CLASS EITHER) WE HAVE BEEN GIVING FOR A LONG TIME.
SO WHATS  THE ANSWER ???   ANYONE HAVE THOUGHTS.??

NOW PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY . THIS IS JUST MY FEELINGS. NO ONE ELSE HAS TO AGREE OR DISAGREE !!
