Now that we all know where Dale Jr is going to hang his helmet next year, I am curious what the race fans think of his decision.

If you are a Dale Jr fan, will you still cheer for him now that he will be teammates with Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson?

If you are a Gordon or Johnson fan, will you welcome Jr to the Hendrick family with open arms?

Feel free to post any thoughts or opinions on the topic. Please keep all posts to the point...No name calling, no bashing or vulgar posts please!

Thank you   ;)

Being a Dale Earnhardt fan, I too would have loved to see Dale Jr sign with Richard Childress, but I realize that this could have been even more of a frustration for Dale Jr in his career by being compared to and put in the shadow of his famous father even more.

I would also have loved to see him sign with Joe Gibbs and join my boy Denny Hamlin in that stable.

I do think that this IS the best move for Dale Jr to accomplish the main goals that he laid out when he announced his departure from DEI:

1. To win races

2. To win championships

3. To be able to compliment his JR Motorsports Busch Series program

While I am not crazy about him being teammates with Jeff and Jimmie, I can get over that if he is winning races and is a LEGITIMATE contender for the NEXTEL Cup Championship!!

I agree 100% with ya buckrub!

Although I'm NOT a J. Gordon fan, I do respect the Championships he's won.
J. Johnson has always impressed me, a good driver with talent and a good head on his shoulders.  (Albeit a tad arrogant at times.)

I'm proud of Jr. for making this decision, for letting his heart & soul be his guide in this tough decision making process!    I've ALWAYS been an Earnhardt fan, and ALWAYS will be!

Keep in mind:  None of this would even be the topic of discussion if Sr. were still here!  He'd make dern sure that DEI had the latest/greatest and best equiptment to remain at the top of their game.

Only AFTER his announcement to leave did the powers that be at DEI move forward and sign an engine deal with RCR, and also put in an order for a "shaker rig" for testing cars.  It's a lil too late now, but maybe with Jr. leaving DEI they'll take things more seriously again and hopefully one day DEI will be a force to be dealt with!
