Ely area fishing as of 07/22/2007

Fishing is starting to turn on in many of the Ely area lakes.

Jim from Moose Track Outfitters on Farm Lake reports good walleye in 6 FOW, bass and crappie action is very good.

Gary over at Silver Rapids Lodge on White Iron Lake reports guests catching a lot of walleye in 15-20 FOW, also good crappie. Most of the crappies on either lake are reported as being suspended.

Denny at Smitty's on Snowbank Lake said many trout are being taken in 60-80 FOW, bass fishing is excellent, but walleye aren't cooperating.

Jim at Shagawa Inn:walleye fishing is dismal, bass is good, and some northerns are being caught.

Basswood Lake seems to be doing quite well with many walleyes & bass  (some rather large) being taken. Depths vary from 6 to 20 FOW.

Burntside Lake is giving up nice walleyes and bass. Northerns are very active with many attacking bass being reeled up. Walleyes are in from 12-30 FOW, leeches are the best bait.
