KABETOGAMA-NAMAKAN ? Gateway Store, US Hwy 53 & CO Rd 122, 30 miles south of Int?l Falls-Canadian border, Phil Hart (218-875-2121) Water temperatures are settling in the 50?s, but the walleye spawn cycle doesn?t appear to be in full motion yet. The opener will be ever so dependent on water temperatures, but for now it looks like the standard jig and minnow set-up in deeper water may be the best presentation. Pike should be found in shallow water down to 12-15 feet, use lures or just fish walleyes and pike will find you. Per chance if the water temperatures are in the mid 50?s, floating jig heads in shallow water may work well. Anglers please remember the 13- to 17-inch harvest slot for walleyes remains in effect this year into next spring before renewal.
