One word of caution.  Try small batches at first.  My wife and I made some dog treats once thinking he'd love it and he did like them but they constipated him.  We don't know enough about what dogs need in their diet and what could have caused it so we just tossed em out.

Good luck.  Sounds like you have your hands full.

I cook for my lab.  I consulted a nutritionist and she developed several diets for me/him.  The reason I consulted the canine nutritionist was because I wanted the menu to be nutritionally complete.  He's been on the diet for almost 6 months and is doing great--he looks like a new dog!  My husband is a little jealous that I cook more for the dog than him.   ;D

One that I really like is Monica Segal.  www.monicasegal.com

She also has a book (or two??)  I know one is Canine Kitchen... and she also has a yahoo group.

If you want to e-mail me, you can and I'll send a recipe so you can see what they're like.

Good luck!
