Yesterday was such a nice day I couldn't stay on shore and look at the lake any longer. So we took a truck and started clearing the snow from our ice road. We still only have have about 10 inches of ice but with the snow plowed to the side, the road should freeze up fast. We went out to 8 feet of water just off the last break so walleye fishing should be good there. Later in the day I took the snowmobile out about 4 miles and found what looks to be the start of a pressure ridge. It runs from NW to SW now, but that can all change on this lake in no time. We'll see what it looks like when we get a truck and some houses out that far. As for a ice thickness goes we have been finding a consistent 9-10 inches but there could be much less in some spots and you should be aware of that when heading into the lake. We still are suggesting ATV and snowmobile traffic onto the ice.
Now the fishing part of the report. Walleye action has been good anywhere from 7 to 11 feet of water. Not too many crappies have been caught yet (it still is early for them), but there are some around. Pike have been starting to hit the tipups near the river area. Good Luck and Be Safe!!!
