Kellie the wife and I went out last night for a couple of hours and landed 1 crappie in 5 feet of water. The surface temp in the area we were at was 60 degrees. We also landed numereous walleyes fishing for crappie. Kellie also lost a couple of fish that may have been crappies.

after being up there last weekend, with little crappie luck, we decided that if the sun came out as predicted, wednesday would be the day to buzz up there for a day shot at them crappies.
well everything has worked out for that except now my wife has gotten called in to work today >:(
i will try to put it together for tomorrow, though it doesn't look to be nearly as sunny or warm as today.
don't catch them all cookie :)
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

Hi Cookie,

Thanks for the report.  i am dying to get back up, but it looks like it will be a while before that happens.  With a little luck I am hoping to be up sometime over Memorial Day weekend.

I saw you passing by on the river over opener.  You were headed down stream and I was going up.  Did not realize it was you until you were already by me.  Nice boat you got there!

Catch you later.

Thanks Bob thats my partner the greeks boat. He's spoiled me over the years and thats why I do not own a boat. Hard to own a boat that will stand up to that one.or his last other 2 boats.
I also saw you along the shoreline but the river was so crazy it was best to just keep on moving.Never did see Dave jiggleship although I know he was here?

Had a great night of fishing yesterday, I ended up with about 30 walleyes and my limit of crappies in about 2 and a half hours of fishing. Most of my walleyes were caught by trolling a orange Husky Jerk, and my crappies were caught on a black and red crappie knocker tipped with small minnow. All my fish were caught on the main break in about 5 feet of water, and moving your bait was key a nice little pop with your rod tip was all you needed.Water temp was 60 degrees where I was fishing. Crappie fishing should be good for the next week or two and the walleyes should be nothing short of phenomenal for quite some time.

It really sounds like the fishing is great up there! I may have to make an attempt to get up to Red this summer. I think as word spreads it is going to get busy up there. It will be a steady stream all through the summer and into the winter. Great for locals business. I should sell everything, get a loan and open a resort up there!

I have heard of two pike that were caught that were 42 inches. Both were caught on little joes tipped with minnows fishing for walleye? Another guy came in with a 9 lb sheephead? The guys in the cabin got 30 crappie friday . We landed a dozen through out the weekend.Bob and Tammy and theer kids got 15crappie and 7 walleyes under 17 inches.
