Just got off the phone with a local guide and he says the bite just gets better! The mud is starting to really get hot and the gravel is good using crawlers on spinner rigs. Today the lake is flat and he bobber fishing on rocks. He tried a couple spots early and the bite has been so good that it is 3pm when I talked to him and he is still catching fish!! Biggest one so far was a 27 1/2 inch pig. I'll have some pictures hopefully by tomorrow. The plan was to go to the mud but has not made it yet. Looking forward to Friday. I should be on the lake by 1pm ;D I miss last weekend so I am itching to get up there!

Thats great news. Will crawlers and spinner rigs be the preferred method this weekend or will it be the traditional slip cork and leech. I may have to tie up a half dozen spinner rigs. I lost my favorite one on the St Croix river last night.

If we hit the deep gravel I think this would be the only way to go. I will also want to try leeches, they seem to never fail as well. In the evenings we will for sure have to brake out the slip bobbers! I'm looking forward to a few days of good fishing here!

Here is a pic from today. Great Fish, wish I was there. I'll be out with Chris on Friday and hopefully I can post a couple pics of myself holding one of these pigs!

This was caught bobber fishing over rocks in 20-22 feet of water  today, Monday, June 12th.

Caught with a leech and slip bobber.

Chris put us on a nice steady bite.  We had enough fish for a great fish fry and tossed back several others.  We even picked up three nice perch.  Great day on the water.

Got another report tonight. Chris had two guide trips today, one in the am and one in the afternoon. Everyone went home with a limit of fish to eat. Besides the fish they caught they landed numerous fish in the 20+ range. The biggest 2 fish of the day were a 28 inch and a 30 inch walleye! Sounds like a blast! These fish were all caught doing my favorite thing...bobbers! They are fishing deep rocks and having a blast. Will probably have another report tomorrow and then first thing Friday morning I am heading out ;D We are going to the same spot they let those big ones go....they are waiting for me..maybe?? ;D?

If your looking to get out on the lake Chris is an excellent guide and catches lots of fish! Give him a call and tell him I sent ya ;)

The deep rocks off of Nichols point have been producing.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly as much fun.? Robert Traver "Anatomy of a Fisherman"
