Welcome to MNO walleyechaser.  Sorry I missed your post.  Here are some of our reports for Mille Lacs.

AppeldoornsSunsetBay Resort 320-676-8834 (12-29-07)www.sunsetbayml.com
We now have all of our rentals out and we are allowing cars and light trucks to drive out to our rentals.

The bite over the past week has been a tough one with a lot of lookers and not much for takers.  It finally started to pick up a little today with some nice perch being caught on both waxworms and fathead minnows.  17 to 19 fow.

A few walleyes are also being caught a little deeper off of the reef with Shiner minnows under a tip-up taking the majority of the fish.  A 27 1/2 incher came out of one of houses today and they also missed a couple more nice fish.

The ice continues to build at a snails pace, but with colder weather this week, hopefully that pace picks up.

Jan 2 - The ice is ok in some spots so we are pulling shacks. It still will be a little while before we pull to the flats but we will pull to the sands and the rock pile. We are allowing vehicle traffic but I wouldn't drive on the road to the flats with anything other than an ATV or snowmoblie. Fishing has been slow the only good reports seem to be perch here and there in the sands.

Ice conditions Update: 1/06/08

Water, water everywhere, and not a drop to drink. That is what is going to happen with this warm weather we are suppose to have for the next several days. All of the snow that is out there with these types of temps is going to make a real mess. I just hope that we get some real cold after words. The ice is just about 12 inches and as much as 14, but with the weight of the snow on the wind rows, they are all starting to crack off and sink, so I had to make another road on Saturday.

I also hope that we do not get any snow this week or we will be in for a real battle with flooding and slush. The front access ice is growing as we speak. When the ice starts to warm up like this, it has to expand and it usually does it on my shoreline. The sun has come out, it is 43 degrees outside, and we still have 4 more hours of sunlight. If the ice pushes, it will be at about 3:00 pm and will be 3 to 6 ft in the air. There is a lot of energy stored up in the ice with all of the cold weather we had last week, and it has to go somewhere. When she lets go, it feels like a bomb went off in the front yard.

Look at the web cam tomorrow morning, just to see if we made it through the day or if it is in the air. There was a decent perch bite this weekend, out on the break in 17 to 22 feet of water and at least 15 walleyes caught out of the rentals, from 16 inches to 27 inches on fat heads or shiners under bobbers. I do have all of my new houses out, and the guys in them, where truly impressed. I will post some pics of the insides and outsides of the foam homes, on my photo album. Make sure to check them out. They are awesome. One group of guys, where not in them for 5 minutes and had a 25 inch walleye under their belt. What a way to break them in. It was a pretty decent bite, considering what I have heard around the lake for a bite.

It was a real push to get some houses out this weekend, but we got it done. Then of course, we would have to get this warm weather coming all this week, what will be next, rain? We sure hope not. I will see what kind of condition the roads are in by Thursday, and make my decision then, on weather or not there will be any light vehicle traffic this coming weekend. I will post it by Thursday night.

All I can say is; we are on the ice, even though it is 2 weeks later than I have ever been out with my houses. Not to mention, the ice is thinner than I have ever seen. With so much inconsistent depths out there, it is still a very spooky thing to drive on. I am already looking forward to seeing the season come to an end, and it has just started. That is pretty sad.

Be safe out there on the tundra.

We will see ya

When we see ya
