Some of you will remember this story well.

This happened about 4 years ago, a bunch of of us made our biweekly trip to the big pond, i think it was me, Jeffy045, Model12, Mike, Paparoof and a few others,

Anyways we all met at the lake, we met up with the rest of the large group of IBOTS on the lake, it was a great weekend because the whole crew was there. BBJ, Jiggle, Griz, Putz, Moron, Labs, ODL, Ninetoe, HastingsGal, Goose, Russ, Beaver, Road, CC, Wallace and a few others that I am forgetting (sorry). Who was the guy who wore the bushy hat, and had a beard, I think he moved to N Dak?

This was a very fun weekend, we had initiations right on the ice for a few new IBOT's, caught a bunch of fish and went in to WestWinds, like always.

The best part of the weekend was playing a prank on Paparoof, it was the middle of the day and he had passed out with his rod in his hand, sitting over his hole in the house. Prior to passing out he caught 1 nice Crappie himself and had it in his bucket next to him. A bunch of us were standing in the house and I grabbed his rod and his 3 hour old Crappie and hooked it back on his line, his Icebuster bobber was down the hole, then I placed the rod back into his hands and then someone yelled "fish on" and woke him up, there must have been 15 of us watching him. He stood up, reeled the fish in, unhooked the Crappie and tossed it in his bucket, then he did a small dance and said "thats 2 in the bucket for me". Then he sat back down on his chair and fell asleep again.

We all laughed our butts off for the rest of the night.... And yes alcohol was involved! Later on that night, when everyone finally went to bed, he ended up walking around outside and got lost, i guess he ended up walking into someone elses shack and crawled into the top bunk.

Those were some fun trips, hopefully we can do it again soon.

I think that was also the weekend that Barebackjack had just bought his new wheelhouse and the axle went into the side on the highway.  :banghead:

IBOT #268 here, looking forward to more good times!

ya i remember it well- yous rented from me- the snow was dam deep,25 mph winds, 20 + below, beer froze in your hands, Grizz, Gambler, Chisholm couple, Goose, outdoor life, were there, and your house was producing and you were strutting like a rooster catching the most out of one hole, i belive the victom of the 1 crappie slept with no heat on, that was quit a trip, no heat in Barebacks shack, bent axle, broken hitch, but we made it to shore for repairs- Bareback stuck around for a couple more days helping me move and set up--just to see how easy it was to be a guide and rental person making the easy bucks- after moving 3 of them his comment was "there isnt anyway in the world i would do this" i never knew how much work it is"

that was 8-9 years ago, to bad we all got older but what memerious my pea brain remembers :party1: :happy1: :drinking:

Yea them days were quite the get togethers. I remember having a bite and then my buddy. Well I landing a fish (nice crappie) only to notice it had 2 hooks in him. When I lipped my fish in the hole and quick pulled it up my buddies drag screamed. OK I thought to myself now it's game on as I had our fish and my buddys line without his knowledge. His back was turned to me.

He sat fighting his line not wanting to look at what I'd gotten until he landed his. I'd give him some line then quick pull a bunch back, slowly giving it back to him only to take it back again. The whole time his GF and I (knowingly)are saying "oh you got a good one, don't let him get away." "Don't horse em" , "this ones deffinitely a trophy"Etc. Another buddy (unknowingly) is basically saying the same stuff but removing the transducer an assisting him in any other fashoin that he can, to land this monster.

This went on for a minute an a half or there abouts when our other buddy looked over at me and realizing what I was doing just busted out in a histerical laugh and then so did the rest of us. Man that was about the funnest minute and a half I've ever had. I think I laughed about it for about a day and a half. Every once in awhile I still laugh about it, mostly when being a good friend I remind him of the moment he had ahold of a trophy of a lifetime. ;D

as I recall, we hooked that crappie in the belly. I had almost forgotten about parapoof.
that was a great weekend.
there were so many good weekends up there, it's sad to see it come to an end.
I guess life goes on and nothing stays the same, but it sure opened the doors to alot of friendships.

Gooses boy and I were just talking about how we miss the good ol days with bucket full of crappies.
maybe it's just me, but I believe there will never be anything that ever compares to the crappie hay day of upper red lake.
at least we have lots of pictures.
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

THWACK KILLS!!
