After our 10 days of super sub zero temps and high winds, things are starting to look better on Friday.

Those that have been trout fishing on either Burntside or Snowbank have had fair fishing, at best.

Anglers are seeing many fish, but they are "lookers" and don't seem very aggressive.

The fish that are being caught are pretty decent size.

The ice seems to have firmed up, with  13-14 inches being common on both of the lakes mentioned above. Do not drive a full size vehicle on them yet, wait another week or so.

Burntside smelt seem to be very active, with hours of constant activity on the Vexilar and Marcum flashers.  I'm thinking of bringing a panfish rod with either waxworms or Euro Larva, and fishing for them while jigging for trout in the other hole. I caught one allmost 7 inches long last week and have no doubt that I could have filled an ice cream pail if I was set up to fish for them.

Quite a bit of fishing activity planned for this weekend on Burntside, will have another report to let you know how things went.
