Over the last year or so I have fielded about a dozen complaints from a dozen different members on the site. Most of you know who you are and I want to address the complaint here for everyone to see. All of you that have complained to me are still members and I still see you log in at least weekly. We don't get many complaints but you all have said the same thing. "Why isn't there more fishing information etc". The best part about this complaint is that it is coming from guys I know fish a lot. Before you decide to complain look at your activity on the site and then ask yourself this question again. If you were to report even 20% of your reports, give any advice or even try to start a thread or strike up a coversation on anything related than there would be that much more activity. That is 12 people that come here for info, expect it, but have nothing to give in return. Do you not understand how a forum works?? It is generated by the forum members...and yes, that is YOU. So please do not come here and complain that there is none of this or that when you yourself have nothing to offer. Thank You! ;D

Good point.  I would offer more info if I had it.  I went ice fishing 3 times this year and posted my meager results on all of them.  I also posted our results from my lone grouse hunting trip to Ely.  I try.

Well said. I for one try to contribute when posting. I can see the point of all the posts being made on things that may be unrelated to the outdoors but on a growing site it has to find it's niche. There is a very old rule to e-mail and that is "in order to get some you have to send some" I think that carries over to information "you should post some if you want to read some" It does not have to be a story, but just sharing of some information.  Glad to see an owner step forward and point the direction and slap a few knuckles. No site can make everyone happy nor should it try. If you do, you just become like all the other sites.  :coffee:

Don't let it get to you boss. Every site has complainers that don't contribute, but demand much. I think it was a good Idea to let folks know what goes on behind the scenes once and a while. Some just take everything for granted and are never happy. I will say that some fisherman don't have productive outings and therefore are to embarrassed to post results. On the other hand there are those that do quite well and refuse to share their success with others.

This is a tuff time of the year for gathering reports and the staff is working hard to recruit reliable contributors. For those who complained, be patient the fishing reports activity will be peaking in May. For those of you who hesitate to post fishing reports feel free to join in and start posting. Were always looking for others to share new tips, tricks, and homemade gadgets that may be helpful to your fellow anglers. :fishing:

Well said SMG!

I even try to post my fishing excursions as much as I can, but this time of year is when I get geared up for youth turkey hunts, I will be posting results and tips pertaining to that. When we get done, the spring fishing will start, and we'll be post them as well.

You said it right Tim, it's all a matter of effort!

I'm trying to give information out, and I like getting some back.
I have gotten positive feed back from some, and some negitive from others.
That's why you can't please all the people all the time.
That's what makes it fun for me.

Sure, I goof around once in a while, and if that's considered useless, then I apoligize.

Well said Hunter!!

And there is nothing wrong with goofing around on here once in a while.  No reason for you to apologize!!  Everyone here can choose what they want to read and what they do NOT want to read.

You always contribute what you can when you can, and we appreciate ALL of your post!!

Hmmm...and here I was going to complain about complaining about the complaining about the complaining.  :banghead:

Seriously, there are lots of us who don't get out as frequently as we'd like so the amount of reporting about shooting and catching we do may be somewhat limited. That doesn't diminish the appreciation for the outdoors we have whatsoever. Some of us do spend a fair amount of time outdoors however and those observations posted here are sometimes as important as where to hunt, fish or what's being shot or caught where.
Time itself is bought and sold, the spreading fear of growing old contains a thousand foolish games that we play. (Neil Young)

OK now thats its out in the open I have a complaint. Ummmmmm, give me a minute, I will come up with something. OK I guess I was wrong I apparently dont have a complaint. Sorry.

Seriously though I have gotten alot of info from MNO and I feel I have contributed some. Not near as much as others have but thats the nature of the game. You have to give to receive. People also need to realize that the info seems to corrilate with the season at hand. I dont contribute very much to fishing because I dont fish much anymore and dont ice fish at all. But before the GTG I learned alot and many people were more than happy to answer all my questions and many helped my kids do some fishing that day. I do contribute more to the hunting because that is what I am into but dont get out much so my contribution is again limited. Ihave seen lots of reports from others who do get out more often. I think this is the best site and the members are the greatest.
I am a life member of NAHC and hardly ever go to there site because it seems like everyone there talks about needing to spend big money on gear, trips, plots, etc. and needing to own lots of acreage to even hunt. On this site people are down to earth and understand that most of us dont have that kind of money to spend and give reccommendations for everybody concerned.

Sorry got long winded. Just wanted to let you know how I feel about MNO.

Its kinda funny that this is brought up and for once its not about me LOL..

when i see someone on here tryin to start some thing all i do is look at there post history. that tells you alot about someone that is if you have not met them in person.

Look into mine for example and what would you think?

Well he post some good things sounds like a total A hole
very cocky and sticks his nose into every thing.

Am i right on that one... but then if you have ever met me  you may say something differnt of the same LOL

just a little thing on how i tell a person on here if i have not met them.

its not MNOs fault we dont have what everyone is looking for,
we cant force people to post. if half the guests would join and
post you would be reading stuff all day! a lot of good things were
brought out today.
my 2 cents worth

Very true. I met you when ya only had a few posts. Then ya started to post more and I started to wonder if my impression of ya was wrong.

ok thats my post

OK if you stick your hand out the front door and it starts to get wet it's prolly raining. Is that what you meant? ;D JK Sorry but my wisdom don't carry into ot.

On a note more related to the topic I haven't said much as most of it's been said by others already. Mostly though I do agree that the ones most likely to complain about lack of info would be the ones that don't give any.

My back hurts! :bonk: But semi-seriously, Hey, good fishermen dont tell their secrets... ;) I think all are willing to help with questions about equipment, experiences, ect., but what do you want exactly.... someones honey holes on their favorite lakes?  Ummmm, why dont we share our social security #'s if were gonna do that, like, oh heres my favorite grouse covert, or heres my favorite rock pile on mille lacs...Aint gonna happen...I'd be very wary of the fisherman that talks it up too much that way... The people you have on the different posts here in different areas of the state, from lodges/guide services ect. give ya the goods on what is biteing and what isnt, the rest is up to us to find em eh?  Ya can go find story tellers on alot of other sites if thats what ya want, or sit in a bar off a lake somewhere, soak it up and listen to a bunch of liars... :rotflmao:...Im glad we dont see alot of that here... :happy1: I suppose there could be more chatter on the fishing side maybe but it seems like theres more folks that do a little of everything here, and not just full time fisher people...whats wrong with that eh?
