It was a good heads up Bonehead. I didn't mean to downplay it just meant to add.

This is a great reminder for everyone. They cant be busting someone for 0 tolerance though, the law in Mn is .08. Commercial vehicles are different though, but they can not just make up the rules for the fishing opener.

I'm guessing that if they smell alcohol, they give you a breathlizer on the spot, is that what you mean by 0 tolerance?

Still, noone should be drinking and driving.

They pulled me over and asked for my license.  I said, "Isn't it back there on the bumper?"

I beleive even if you are under .08, if they beleive you are "impaired" they can still give you a d.u.i. I would think you could fight it though.

Yes, you are correct gds. But 0 tolerance on a post before yours........ Must have been a typo.

Here is my 2 cents worth. I think if you are not drinking and they pull you over for no probable cause, they should be brought to court for harassment. Peoples time is to valuable to be harassed if you did nothing wrong. The seat belt issue is a another thing. I think they are just taking away another right. Freedom of choice. A lot of people died for our freedom of choice and they are just taking it away slowly one at a time. OK, now I got that out of my system. :taz:

My take is that if you are not drinking and they pull you over then you have nothing to worry about.  When I see this happening I think to my self that if they take one drunk off the road and save just one life doing it the it is more than worth my time.  I guess in the grand scheme of things I am willing to give up a few minutes to save a life... it just might be yours that is saved!  Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

a few years ago me and the wife went out and i had a few,
when i do she drives. we were in maplewood and they had
a sobriety check point, this one guy stops 2 blocks before
tosses his keys and runs off into the woods! i assume he got
caught, i heard the next day that they brought out the K-9
unit to search for him.

I don't think you are right on that .04 if you are not driving a 18 wheeler. If you are in your personal vehicle it is .08. No body seems to think they are taking away your rights when they make you wear a seat belt!

Here yah go Hunter2 I'll agree with you.  I don't think government should have a law "making" people waer a seatbelt or getting a fine.  However I do think you're an idiot if you don't wear one (unless your driving across the lake of course).

I respectfully disagree with you BK19. It is .04 when you are driving a commercial vehicle, but .08 in any personal vehicle. When driving a commercial vehicle, you can be taken off the road for 24 hours if there is any alcohol detected, but arrested if your BAC reaches .04 or above.

When driving your personal vehicle, the law is .08 even if you hold a commercial license, the catch is it will affect your commercial license if you are arressted for DUI in your personal vehicle.

I agree. It is your right to be stupid if you want to. The Government is much to big and should be knocked back a notch or two. Regulate this and then that. All a bunch of  :bs: I think seat belts are great but I do not need anyone telling me I have to use one. Along with a host of other things. Man I could go on forever about this.
