Well my oldest boy got out for opener weekend and scored him a deer.  He's on his way home and I'll be sure to get a photo to post when I can.  I'll have to hustle to get this thing in the freezer for now.

I'll tell him to log on and give you the whole story when he gets time.

Here's what I know so far.     He calls me at 12:30pm to say they're coming home with it.  I get the camera, knife, and paper out.  Hours later I get a call from him saying they're tracking a deer that ANOTHER kid got.   :bonk:  And that one of the adults on the hunt would help him cut it up.  So I head off to work  :banghead: and this morning Momma Grute told me he didn't get home until 9:30pm - tired, cold, wet and no deer.   :doah:  Also, he's got a fever so he stayed home from school and at 2:45, he still hasn't gotten out of bed yet!!  YIKES!  So Im hoping the other adult who said he'd help with the deer has it in a cooler or something.  Anyway, when Hockey 12 does come back to join the living, I'll have him tell the story of the hunt.  Im kinda concerned but I think I hear some stirring going on.

Ok here is the real story.

It was sunday around 6:50am when i saw a raccoon and watched him 4 a while he was just snooping around the bottom of my standand then ran off. But then heard a noise from the field behind me and saw three deer one big doe, and 2 smaller does. 2 of them didn't like somthing so they took off and one little one was still out there so i put my 20 yard pin on him and shot. She fell over from the first shot so i thought i had spined her at first but then she got up and ran and fell again and got up and ran again and finally stoped. So i waited 30 min to go get my mentor. Once i got him he said that we should let her bleed out in peace so we let her sit 4 an hour then went and got her and field dressed her and carried her out. So that is the story and here is a pic   ;) ;D

One deer down, plenty more to go! Great job!  :happy1:
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.
