I took my daughter out squirrel hunting this morning.  She didn't know it but I planned on letting her shoot.  I took her where I had hunted as a little sapling myself.  We sat down a little ways from the largest black walnut tree that I have ever seen (3.5-4.5 foot trunk) and waited.  We didn't have to wait to long.  Soon there were 3 squirrels picking up nuts.  I asked Sierra if she thought that they were close enough for her and she LOOKED at me and asked "Can I try?"

I slowly handed the gun to her.  She picked out a big grey squirrel that was closest. Pushed the safety off.  Took a deep breath. Let half of it out, and pulled the trigger.  One shot kill.  She let out a little squeal and said "Got em"

We would have stayed and tried for the others but she had religion to get to.

We went over and picked up her trophy.  It is now skinned and tacked to a board with salt on it.  She wants to save it for her bedroom.
