This picture is becoming famous on internet forums.

Anyone else seen it around? I have heard stories from the actual shooter of the deer claiming it is a real pic with references to back it up.

The biggest complaint is how the deer is transparent.

Yeah I noticed that too... :reporter;

It was also brought up in every other forum that I saw it in. It was in a state where it is legal so that is a plus.

I am the one that posted this on archerytalk.com as I accidently found this on mathews website linking to a south carolina website.  I posted there to communicate the validity of the photo.

I am a cousin to Logan and Brian Hacker and I hunt where they live in Luck, WI - and am a member here on MNO.

Believe it or not the pic is real and is being analzed by professionals to validate its authenticity.  It is unfortunate that it is being forced to this for them but such is the internet.\

If you have any questions or want to view the file directly off the Cuddeback, send me an email or PM and I will get back to you.  I am headed to WI tomorrow night with my wife to hopefully get her on a rut buck and will be back next Tuesday or Wednesday.

The biggest complaint is how the deer is transparent.

It does appear like it is transparent.  I think the reasons for that are one, the flash of the trail cam must of went off, 2nd they are in a heavily wood area and a ton of leaves on the trees.  The patches of light (from the sun shining thru the leaves) on the top part of the back of the deer look bright because the of other spots on the back having shadows from the leaves.  Then third the deer is moving very fast when the picture was snapped.

To recap, we have a bright flash from the side (trail cam), then the bright sun trying to shine thru a heavily wooded area (patches of light and shadows) and a deer springing into the air from the reaction of the arrow hitting it.

I believe it is real.

But I am no CSI expert.   ;)

You know what is also amazing? The arrow didn't blow through the deer. I'm thinking his stand was a little farther back, or he maybe he was pulling 55 lbs and hit a shoulder blade or rib bone.

Seems real to me.

As a person who uses Photoshop CS2 on a daily basis, I disagree that this is real.  You can obviously record an impact shot using still or video picture recording. The image can easily be manipulated and then pasted onto any background image you choose. The transparency on the upper back of the deer is what makes me question it.

I'm going to go with REAL since you can see the light shining through the trees on it's back.

That is a pic of the dead deer on the ground and photo shopped in.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

Not sure................

If you blow up the picture...you can see the outline of all the trees through out the whole deer.
The muscles seem to be flexed, as if it were real.
The head would have to be proped up to keep it in that position.
The blood would not be instant on the entrance wound, if it was the impact shot.
Depending on the state in which this was taken, here, it would be illegal to shoot it over a corn pile.
The deer running away, when blown up, does seem to be part of the "original" pic.
The blood on the leaves could be from the overlay of the other pic.
Did not see any blood in the air, but the side of the deer does have splattered blood to give that effect.

I think what Don is stating is that this picture is 100% real.

That also looks like an exit wound. The pic is real and the deer was put in later. That is a dead deer and that is a lot of blood too.

If you don't get tired of reading this one - I can send you a couple more links from other websites.  The above post is the only one I have originated however I have posted a couple responses to other posts that were started by someone else on other sites.

This post will show you many examples of fading animals and people, will show you the identified blood spots in the air, etc.  If I looked at the picture from scratch and not knowing the individuals or particulars I would think the picture was fake as well; however I do know these things.  As you will see, since becoming a member of this site, I did not post this up on MNO; I thought about it but then thought it was not worth it until all final documentation and testing is completed.  As I understand, the entire results will be posted on a website (I am assuming very soon but I disengaged from the communications so there was no 3rd party interference or loss of detail by 2nd hand).

I have about 30 + emails between the ESPN reporter, Brian and Logan Hacker, and a couple other professionals doing the evaluation that Brian has contacted.  I am not able to share that information as the entire story is being written from the very beginning detailing all particulars to this event including correspondence several before and after pics including camera placement, measurements, etc.

Again, I am more than happy to provide the original file right off the camera if you wish to examine.

I also found out this past Saturday, that a friend I graduated from high school with, his son was the one with Logan during the shot as well as they went out together and pulled the chip from the camera.

What is so special about this picture other than the fact that it looks fake and people claim it is real?  Am I missing something here?

Was wondering the same thing.

Small buck jumping in the air and taking an arrow in the vitals, hunting over corn in a legal state.

Looks fake to me without a doubt.

Fake.   You can look at all the surrounding features you want.  The second deer, the blood drips, the sunlight through the trees, the blurry tail showing "movement", the flash on the deer's body... but deer AREN"T transparent.  How can a solid, thick body like that have "holes" that allow sunlight to pass through.  The light spots coincide with the gaps left by the tree branches.

And if the deer was truly alive, why is aren't the feet blurry, or the antlers blurry.  Blurred images show movement, whether it be the camera moving during image capture or the subject moving, more than just the tail should be blurred.  Fake.

I will weigh in and say, definitively,...I don't know! I have issues with the ears being laid back, the transparency and to me it looks like a picture of a dead deer, photoshopped in to a normal scene. On the flip side, if it is real, I dont know what is supposed to be so special about the photo to need to know if it's real or not.  No doubt it is an amazing event caught by photography. Perhaps Cuddeback is going to use this to sell more cameras and that brings the issue to the forefront. I guess the fella that owns it stands to gain some cameras if Cuddeback warrants the need to have it. My guess is that if the Cuddeback really doest this, there will or have been other amazing photos to use in their marketing.
I also don't know why people would photoshop something and then pass it off as real. Hell, photoshop away and then show us what you can do but don't pass it off as real. It eventually comes out and then makes an ass out of a lot of people.
If it is real it proves one thing to me, the Cuddeback was able to take a picture at a special time. Isn't that what they're supposed to do?
We all have three memorable trips in our lives...the first one, the last one and the next one.

You'd only see thru a trailing edge if the deer was "moving fast", not the entire deer... not even a good photo shop photo.... the lighting aint even close between the two photos. :coffee:
