well the buck i have been hunting the past year gave me a shot today at 55-60 yards. slightly quartering towards me. well i had a decent rest and i did rush the shot a little, but i was confident i made a connectionon him. well on the shot he dropped his head real low and ran like that with his tail down. now the problem..... cant find any blood at all...looked for over an hour in the dark. with the primos blood hunter and also looked with the regular flashlight. all i found was a small amount of hair. now i may be just worrying a bit, but do you think i made a good hit with how he ran?

you'll find him.
he's down. with no blood, be sure to search every trail leading into or away from that area.
then make sure to cover the old "double back"
almost lost a forkie one year because of that, but i found him the next morning.
you'll robably even notice blood at or near the impact site. lets hope you didn't blow him out pushing to early.
good luck!

Coyotes can be the best tracker you can have....next time if you can, call a buddy out and bring ya dinner and sit in your stand or where you last seen him go and listen...if there are yotes around, theyll find him, wait for their greeting than home in on them!

Now I do not want to be the bad guy here but, you shot a deer last night and you think you hit it.
Pulling out last night was most likely a good idea.

Then you logged on and seemed worried about finding the deer. But in the morning, you didn’t get back out and look for him. I personal think you should be looking for him and finishing last night’s hunt, instead of planning you next hunt.

Maybe just something to think about.

I have lost deer before but you can bet the bank I tried my best

umm call me stupid, but if you are guiding pheasant hunts or something where you have clients, it's still not acceptable.
you have an obligation as a hunter to get out there at first light and find the deer you wounded.

you better explain yourself, I'm borderline pissed here...and I dont care if I sound like the bad guy

I would have been out at first light, that's your best opportunity if he was hit...lay down for the night and won't get back up

what type of white hair was it? with the tail down and head down my guess is a gut shot. sometimes the guts will plug the wound.. but if you didnt see any blood at the impact site that's not too likely from what you described.  you could have just grazed him.  or hit his briscuit in which case he's probably gone forever. your probably sick enough over this as it stands. either way it's cold enough where the meat will be fine if you find him today, otherwise you have to count this up as a learning experience in not forcing/rushing a shot.  if your around north branch let me know and I'll come help you look.

All you can do is just keep making circles tell you get tired of it. If it was white hair I would say belly or brisket, but when you say brown, I;m thinking to high or to far back. At least you tried.

I guess I need some clarification then..........

It does not say in the original post

Just that you had a decent rest....So, I would assume gun, but wasn't sure.

And at 55-60 yards, might be a little far for a rushed shot with a bow.........

The story was a little vague..........  :sorry:

Grazing a deer usually leaves alot (LOTS)of hair. The amount of fat a Deer is carrying can close a pretty severe wound. I have had a heartshot Doe go 25 yards with no blood trail in the snow. Half of her heart was left and she had blobs of fat in front of her thighs and most every where else. I have no idea where this Deer was getting the diet coke from.
