Well it was no walk in the park and we have a long ways to go. We cleared a lot of the grass and brush and actually got 1 area tilled. I'm exhausted!!!! I'll tell the rest of the story later. Here's a couple pics.........

isn't it too early to plant?
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

We are not planting for another month but we have so much land that we want to plant that we need to get working. Lots of work to do. We aren't just turning up last years plot. We are breaking new ground.

what does that tractor run for rent per hour? I think when we do
our land, I will need a bulldozer!

I always love the old codgers who show up and assess the situation after it happens: "Couldn't ya see it was wet?" Answer: "Yes, when I see water or wet spots, I always drive right towards them."

Looks like a good time was had by all.

In person? Hmmmm maybe next January or Feb.  ;)

They are coming along but a long way to go. This land has never been farmed so the ground, grass, weeds, roots system is thick and hard to break. We also have trouble getting equipment back there due to swamp land. Its just been a lot of work. Spent all day out there today again. 2 of the plots are somewhat planted now I have to worry about rain.

Looks like soy beans and sunflower seeds. Do you just spread them and then disk them in? You should have had a Kabota :rotflmao:

Yep, lots of what I call fun work. I have not been around much lately because I am in the field or at work. I have some plots up north that are about 4 years old now and I can say I forgot how hard it is to start one from scratch, but it is worth every minute.

If you have never tried it, go for it this year. It does not have to be prefect just have fun watching it come alive. And if you do shoot a deer in it will be a deer you will never forget.

Start cheap and start small, just get one started it’s a whole other page in the hunting book
Are you a hunter or do you just kill things? Respect the wildlife!

Well, It's been two months since you put in all the work and planted.  Any new pictures? How are the plots going?  Need any help keeping the deer away?
