I am borrowing a pickup camper for deer hunting this year. My dilema lies in heating this thing. I do not want to run a generator but in order to get the furnace to light the blower needs to be on, which requires electricity. I would like to be able to just run it off a car battery but dont know if this is possible. There is a plug on the front of the camper that resembles a trailor light plug perhaps that is to plug in 12 volt power? So what I need is someone who knows something about these things to let me know or other suggestions for heat sources safe for sleeping with.

You could run it off a car battery, but it wont last as long as a deep cycle battery. There should
be a compartment on the camper for a battery.

I used to run mine off a deep cycle....Randy is right, there should be a compartment for it.
I always brought 2, that way I always had one on the charger..

Is there a typical location to find these compartments? I know on towable campers its right on the tongue.

Mine was just a cupboard door that opened up to the inside gap of the pick-up box.
Near the floor, towards the front, just in front of the wheel well.

What kind of camper is it? Some have a vented louvered compartment on the outside.

On that model, If it doesnt have a outside door. I have seen them put them under the bench seat towards the front. They do have to be vented, so i would look for a small white plastic type vent on
the outside and that will give you a general idea where they hid the battery.
