I just put W-D (or other penetrating oil) on the pivot points, pull er back a few times, wipe off the excess, and call er good.

Never had a problem with it rusting.

be careful if your a scent freak like me, wd 40 and other oils will put off odor.
I have had rusting issues with my first bow, but only on the screw heads.
there is a solution but I don't remember what it is. I'll try to find out.
I was thinking it was something like unscented wax?
I don't remember.
I haven't used anything yet, but I did take the screw out of my old bow and clean them up.

could try cleaning it off, then use vegetable oil to coat it
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

That would work too.....

If you use the W-D, like Jiggle said, wipe off as much as you can.
Or if your feeling really ambisious, and know someone with a bow vise, you could take it apart and just re-grease the rods after cleaning the rust off.

this was the most sound tip I got.

I coat all screws, bolts etc. with string wax and fill any of the recessed holes with wax as well, Wipe the wet bow down with paper towel and then use a can of dried air to blow out any place I could not reach with the paper towel. and hang out of the case over night.
