Rusty is an understatement to say the least.  I can't tell you the number of times I have watched other duck hunters in my group miss and then look at the gun, re-shoulder it, eject out shells and slam in new ones.  Heck, they even shake the gun in trying to figure out how they missed.  I'm   not perfect by any means, I still miss.  Even getting out to shoot hand thrown clays makes a huge difference in my book.

And there is something about having a gun in hand sitting in a blind or deer stand.  Same goes for a trap or skeet range and sporting clay range.  It's like the entire world slows down for a moment.  You don't hear a sound, you don't see anything else.  I hear a spring go clank, see an orange UFO, and hopefully a cloud of dust when it's done.

Count me in for the season.  Do I need a FA contract or is this a waiver pick up?  Can't wait to shoot with you guys.

Yep... is easy to blame the shells, Im guilty of it sometimes... they make great scapegoats! :whistling:  Cody... I think we gotta look at getting Beeker and Red like an expansion draft.... ;D  Yeah it'll be fun for sure.... Things are a bit scary for me right now with my job.  Our contract is being put up for bid for the first time in 20 yrs. :doah:  Hopefully I wont be making "cut backs" with the stuff I like to do/have....

there is a entire list of standard excuses for missing. all are applicable and accepted on the course.
I hear ya on the job front.. I just got back to steady work after 2 years of messing around.. now the the wife who works for boston sci.. just heard all the news of layoffs again.. one thing after another.  shotgun therapy sounds really good

well it is true.

if we do manage all 8 team members but then it is 50 bucks a peice. plus membership fee, plus 33 for each 100 targets.

this is starting to get kind of spendy, its looking like im going to spend over 150 dollars my first time out, id rather just shoot in events. but it also says you must be present at the banquet to win prizes now to. like cowboy said they are really nice people but with the way the times are they might of just shot themselves in the foot with this. i dont know if my buddy will shoot now with this news.

Wow... thats too bad they did it, but they had to I guess, lots of people dropped off due to the economy, and the ammo prices didnt help them either.... I guess the glss half full way of lookin at is, you are allready forking out some bucks to partake in the sport, so $50 is really just a drop in the ole bucket, if you didnt have a sponser, like our team Boomstix(unafilliated ;)) we allready were putting in like $20 each for the sponser fee, but it all adds up, I know.  Look how much everything is going up... if ya have a kid in hockey for example... ice time $$ is incredible!  I remember even our traveling team practiced out side way back when to save some $$ and its more than doubled since I was playing.... Sporting Clays tourney prices are gonna go up too... :banghead:  nothins gonna get cheaper... not even drinking water, and breathing air is probably next. :whistling:  Yeah Cowboy, if you are are a sponser, that $400 fee is really a big kick in the you-know-whats... cant see too many sponsers dallying up that pile of cash.  I bet half of the teams will be paying their own fees this year.  Cody... you have always had to be present at the banquets to get the bling..... the people that show up love it when people's name's get read off for those guns and they get to pull another name out of the hat! ;)  Yeah Chris and Debbie run a good ship there, I hope things dont fall off more than they did last year, they dont get rich doing what they do and they are great people!  Yeah, I hope I can afford to shoot this year, Im planning to, but you just never know....

ill just shove 50 bucks aside from each check if i can to pay for it. not so much on the ammo i mean i get 100 box from walmart for 20 bucks so not a bad deal. thats for the federals the winchesters are the same price. now its going to be alot harder for us to get a sponsor because of the price.

that is a bummer.. that's a heck of an increase from one year to the next, not sure what type of business strategy that is based on .. think it'll scare away more shooters than it brings in.. unless they don't make anything from the leagues.. hope they know what they're doing.
for that matter not sure what the NSCA provides for their membership fee that Iclays does for free?

I reload ammo.. I stock up on components when I see them on sale. we'll see what plays out

I got my league flyer last night... something seemed missing from previous years... what we missed was that there is no membership fee anymore of $50.... so, its just included in the team fee...gotta read the fine print and compare it to last years flyer, guys... :doah:, so it comes out the same pretty much, if you are a new member, you pay $50 to get your foot in the door, then its a free membership there after... it even says its to encourage folks to shoot every year... so, if you add things up, there is really no sponser fee of $95.... if you have a squad of 8 people, its just $50, and no chipping in to cover the sponser fee anymore.(if Im adding things up correctly :whistling:) That combo league deal (5-stand-skeet-trap) is a really good one if you get a punch card... good way to practice/warm up before shooting the real thing... ;)

Can someone make sense of this for me?    :help:

I read it as $400 for the entire team.  That's divided by the # on each team so it could be $50 or $100.  Then it is $160 for a punch card.  (10 rounds plus 1 free = 11 total rounds?)

I could spend from $210 to $260 depending on the team members?

I'm still in as long as some of you still are.

yes its 400 for the sponsorship, so unless we find a sponsor and we have a full team its will be 50 dollars each. i dont usually buy a punch card but to each there own. im still in also.

You got it right Red... You dont have to go the punch card route if you dont choose, but you get a free round if you do.  You can pay for rounds as you go also.  It looks like we'll have 8 guys easy, unless the rug gets yanked out from under my feet with my job situation, I'll get ahold of the other guys on our squad and see what's up with them... its a bit early yet, but the shotguns will be seeing the light of day sooner than we think!  Cody let us know what Mitches situation iswhen you can.... I'll get back to you guys asap.... My deal... I may not find out for a month... maybe after we start shooting... dont know at this point.

What is the tentative first shooting date @ Wild Marsh for the crew?

Do we sign up and pay then or earlier?  I'm just a rookie so bear with me.

Guys.... right now, I am twiddling my fingers, awaiting the news flash as to whether I will have a job or not here in the next week...two weeks...three weeks? :banghead:  I really am lookin forward to shooting,(as always!) But worst case scenario... If our contract isn't renewed, I wont be able to afford to shoot league this year.  So I have to wait and see...  But Im a glass half full guy, and Im hoping I will be.  Worst case.... you guys will have to keep team Boomstix alive and kicking till next year... I'll get back to you soon here... Yeah Beeker, that shoot, and the Northwoods up there are my favorite shoots.... great targets, great layout and great owners there!  Yeah Red, We usually get the group signed up at that spring shoot, or at least get all the names down on paper then....
