Well at lest someone got some photos, This did not, It going to take me a long time for me to forgive myself, But yes it was nice to put some face to the name and it was nice to see some fish caught,

The doctor is making an important point here - turns out she sunk a little. That's right about 18" of the grill are now below the ice in the photo above.
The last fifteen minutes of the trip where spent using an assortment of man tools and fire to chip/melt/smash the kick ass grill loose from the thawed and then frozen ice directly under the feet of the kick ass grill. Woody was getting ready to fire up a welding torch before she busted loose. A chain attached to a trailer hitch was also suggested as a can't miss solution.

What a blast. Great day.
Besides meeting the general for the first time he fed me twice and entertained the heck out of me watching him patiently try to land that giant pike. HunterDown shows up out of nowhere. I think he belly crawled all the way out from the shoreline so he could surprise us. I pretended to complain about an aching molar and I'm pretty sure DDSBYDAY would have taken care of it if necessary. I got an incredible guided tour of the most spacious 6 x 6 portable on the planet from Brian.
Of course a hug from Bena was the highlight. Great to see Woody and the rest of the family again. Woody thanks for bringing all the chips and condiments.
Kyle great to meet you and thanks for everything including the prettiest shiners I've ever seen.

And I had a great time fishing and riding with my buddy Kent all day.

I think this lake would be a good destination for maybe a summertime gathering next summer.

We ll I had a great time meeting all of you.  We have the fun stories, the fish caught stories (Nice job HD on the Sunfish), and the big one (according to HD 15+ pound northern and he is the expert) that got away.  My tip-up skills are top notch so the blame is going to have to be placed on HD.  I had the head up the hole, after about 4-5 runs from her (usually the girls head right for me but not this one).  Yet HD just stood there



with his hands in his pocket barking out orders.  When what I really needed was this guy



Now I understand Bobby why HD catches more fish then you when you guys go fishing together.  He is not an extreme net man.

I was also glad to see my fishing partner from this summer land the top prize.  Good job young man.

I believe it went down like this.....


Heard the sirens going off....and Brian started running cause he thought the cops were coming... 

The General flips the top on the trap sauna, and runs to his tip up...

HD: "Do you need help?"
General: "Nope, I got it"
HD: "Are you sure?"
General: "Yep, I got it"
HD: "Is it a big one?"
General: "It's a pig"

(HD walks over to were the General was)

After several runs from the fish.....
The General, finally gets the head of the monster in the hole. (not out of the water, but just in the hole)
It was an 8 inch auger hole, and the pike's head was just as big...

Then, the General says..... "Grab it HD!"

(This is the part where experience has taught me many things:
You never stuff your bare hand in a 15 pound plus pikes mouth! 
If you fish where pike are present....you use a leader...)

The pike does the death role in the hole and cuts the line, and sinks down the hole.

The General: "FAW-KINN-AE!!!!"

Yeah I think I saw Brian running for the hills too.  I tell you what........Brian is in great shape after all that running.  The siren was going off many times.  Kind of reminded me of the movie "Forest Gump", when the crowd had to hold up a sign for him to stop.

Too funny!  The people reading this that could not make it sure missed out (and they know it!).

"Summer Get Together"...sounds great!  Have to be July or August for me since my springs are so busy.  Last weekend in July is Waterama and the town is packed...good live bands tho.  Summer on the lake is a blast!  Can't keep the bass off the hook...pike are even more furocious...the walleyes are easier to find and catch...and panfish are very hungry.  Try to pick a weekend with a full moon phase as the night fishing for eyes in shallow (4 to 6 fow) should not be missed!

Well...what to do today?  I think I will go fishing.  :)

Thanks for helping us out LandDr.   I certainly could see spending the day on that lake with my vex and lake map.   There certainly are unlimited areas to find active fish if you are willing to move around.  If we do this again it would be fun to go a day early and sniff around a bit.
 
                 Wildlife-  Thanks again for the coon hat.  Warmest  hat I have ever worn.  I hope to break it out a couple of more times this winter.

General atleast Hd offered to grab the fish I was with him 2 saturdays ago and he didnt even come out of the house till i got the fish in the hole and then it spit the hook..Were`gonna have to teach him to be a team player........

I do see some similarities here:
You guys picked the lake.
You guys both missed fish.
I caught fish. 
After I caught fish, you guys switched tactics to catch fish.
You both caught the smallest fish.
I went home with fish.
You guys did not.
