DNR conservation officer honored by The Wildlife Society

The Minnesota Chapter of The Wildlife Society, comprising wildlife professionals from agencies, universities, and the private sector statewide, recognized a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) conservation officer (CO) at its annual meeting on March 2.

DNR conservation officers have won the award fourteen times since its inception.

Picht, a conservation officer since 2007, was recognized for his tireless efforts to eliminate illegal hunting activities, flood relief efforts in Fargo-Moorhead, w ork with news media, waterfowl disease monitoring efforts and team work with local wildlife management and conservation initiatives and officials.

“Conservation Officer Picht’s recognition is well deserved and representative of the good work he has done in his station area,” said Col. Jim Konrad, DNR Enforcement director. “He’s
a quality officer and a quality person.”
