Plus then ya have the pleasure of getting a little revenge.... from its relatives busting and scolding you in your deerstand last November! :taz: :taz: :taz: I dont know though... I already altered Hunter42's version which called for gopher being the secret ingrediant... Didnt have any so I went with chipmunk over voles... ;)  but you are right... I think red squirrel is better than "tree carp"..... (grey squirrels)

We could do a "Tree Rat Stew" shoot at Beeker's.....  I'll bring the beverages for that one....

Ok....

I'm thinking of try'in to make this.
I have shot trap, the duck tower and skeet. BUT...I have never done this sporting clay thing...
How does it work? I have seen some video clips of it being done....

Give me some insite....

How many shells in the gun? How many shots at a target? They role some on the ground like rabbits hopping too? What kind of loads? Choke in the gun? Are the targets close or out far?
More than one target at a time?

ok HD you get 2 shells in your gun per round 1 for each target. there are "report pairs" when you say pull the launcher only throws 1 target(A) and as soon as you shoot at target (A) the thrower throws target(B) right away and you shoot at that one. then there is "True Pairs" in which these throw 2 targets at the same time and you try to break both of them with the 2 shots you have. most people typically use 7 1/2 to 8 shot. so i would recemmond(sp) 8 shot, in whichever shell brand you prefer.(walmart sells 8 shot winchester 4 boxs of 25 for 20 bucks) targets are both close and far and zig and zaging high and low slow and fast thats what makes it so much fun. as per rabbits they usually arent to far away and will usually leave you scratching your head. as for choke i use a improved choke or my skeet choke. can also use modified but whichever one you would use for wing shooting should work. but improved is about the best in my opinion.

also if you have like a shell bag or a backpack it wouldnt hurt to have to carry your extra shells, water etc. i have a extra shell pouch you can use.

Thanks for the info Cody!

Most of the guns I have, have full chokes except for my 20 ga. 1100's (maybe a little lite for this)
The guns I like to shoot won't eject 2 3/4 cause they are chambered for 3 inch mags.
(Remington 1100 12 ga.)  (anybody else have this issue?)

I do have a 870 or a Mossberg that I can put a modified in though....

See what I mean, you keep stirring that pot............

Know what I think?  I think you're allegedly getting better because my low scores are making your mid range scores look really good......how's that for stirring the pot.

I can't wait!!!!!!

I think Cody gets 5-10 hits per round when he whines about seeing "Chips" that no one sees... ;) :rotflmao: He also mysteriously does really well when we are all not there giving him crap behind the stand.... :whistling:  Screw the rocks Red.... do what Beeker and I do... chase those pesky targets down and smack em down with a Thome like swing of your gun! :bonk: (gotta hit em before theyre layin on the ground though... only fair.)

Just jerkin yer chain Cody ;D.... actually, I dont think I have ever heard you "cry chip" before.... and thats a good thing... In fact I think I have called "chip" and gotten you a few hits before that ya didnt see... thats a good thing too.  Im pretty good at seeing em though, alot of the time I even see dust when we miss/top the targets... but then we hardly ever miss... eh Cody? :whistling:  Hunter, you'll have a blast shooting sporting clays... its a totally different animal than the other clay games... Your 20g would work fine, I shoot my 20g SxS quite a bit, and actually started shooting Sporting Clays with my ole 20g grouse gun. (24" citori o/u)  Like someone once told me, either ya hit em or ya dont...doesnt matter what you shoot if you hit em!  Plus then when you beat your buddies using a 20g, it just rubs that ole salt in the wounds a little more! ;) But yeah, the 870 would be just fine also.... my buddy used a S&W 12g pump for years(and did very well with it) shooting sporting till he went with a Beretta 391..... Ive seen guys on courses using a .410 and doing as good with it as I did using a 12g with the heaviest, fastest 8 shot loads you can use... its just that using the right choke and the larger target loads may get you that target or three that you may not have gotten otherwise.... yep those Magnums dont like those lighter target loads, everyone that has tried using their mag auto's has gone thru that deal....alot of the newer autos dont have that issue now....

Yup....I hear ya....

I use to shoot trap with my 12 1100 (cause you only get one shot anaways) and did fine with it. Also helped on the reloading side, cause I didn't have to bend over to pick up my hulls. That's why I was wondering about how many shots you get at how many targets.

I think I'll bring the 20 just for chits and giggles.....  ;)

Looks like I'll be there (unless mama comes up with somth'in)

Besides....I need to collect on a 12'er from Cody......   :rotflmao:

This sounds like a good time.........I have a supposed 'guide' booking on Sat. morning we'll see if it pans out. Red needs the practice though, there's not too many spots left in the air where we duck hunt that he hasn't hit. The dogs keep rolling they're eyes at me after he shoots!  :rotflmao: Something needs to be done!

FireRanger.... The eye rolling thing sounds VERY familiar .... yep , thats it.... My Setter, Drummer, gives that to me every time a grouse gets away from me..... (I call it "the look") :banghead: :bonk:  Man, you guys are hard on Red :doah:... $10 bucks says he'll be at some range this week shooting rabbit targets till his shoulder is bleeding! :rotflmao:  Dont sweat it Red... everyone goes thru their "Wabbit Woes"! :whistling:

I'm just helping remove the OZONE layer faster, warmer temps should keep the teals and woodies around longer right?

Pout, I'm not worried about FireRanger.  I know how to handle him.... after I take my daily duck hunting nap.....

Furthermore, I can shoot both of the rabbits..... I just don't go into a tizzy and wait until the last possible second to shoot the second rabbit....... you were there.....

FireRanger, you should go with us.  I can pick you up if you can get away.

I plan to be there on Saturday.  10:00 sounds fine to me.  I will let you know if my son will be there.  He may have to work.
I will bring some venison (beer sticks and hot cheese sticks)

Cody.... thats not even close...... I certainly did not say either dang it or shoot.... it was more along the lines of:  *@#% :taz:!!!!  &  *$+?@ :banghead:!!!!!  And thats rare for me!  Dont think Ive had a melt-down like that since my golf days, which I quit when I took up sporting clays!
