who's all still bowhunting?

On the drive up to pine river last night I saw 50+ deer feeding in the fields around sundown.
Went out this morning and saw nothing but tracks. They must have really been cruising under the moon last night.

Went out this eve and saw not a thing!! 

Tracks everywhere though. Will be out all day tomorrow. I'll stop back for a report.

Got a doe yesterday, 125 lbs field dressed hanging. SAw 14 total, will be back out tonight and all day tomorrow.

Went out with the bow for the last couple hours of light...

I had the same fork I've been seeing, come in at 30 yards by himself. Then just before it got dark, 4 doe's headed toward the food plot about 75 yards out.

I was out most of the day today....

Saw two does this morning on a mission. Not sure where they were headed 

And then walking back in after noon we jumped two does.


Other than that..... notta thing! I did find one of our young guys dead today though.  RIP young buddy. I cut his antlers off, thought my dog could use a couple chew toys.

It seems that the deer are grouping up pretty good now and on food! Only problem is that they aren't on my food! 

Take a day off tomorrow and back to the drawing board monday. Have to figure out a few things....

Was it shot and not found til now or hit by a car?  Too bad to see a young buck die and not be able to be used for food.

Not sure.. His chest was intact and I looked for puncture wounds or bullets holes but found none. Head and neck were intact and looked good as well. His stomach and hind quarters were ate out and was not much left. Nothing concrete to draw a conclusion to his death. I do remember the last two times I saw him... He was so happy eating some leaves off a tree and then the last time he was working his way around a pond, checking a scrape, just having a good old day. Came right by the stand to say hello and moved right along. That was November 2nd. Service will be held tomorrow at 9am if you are interested in joining us.

Went out last night while all the neighbors were out smoke pole hunting. Little too warm for anything to be moving though.

 I almost had to end my season last night while on the way to the stand I jumped a small deer it only ran about 10 ydsand stopped and looked at me when I looked at him I knew instantly it was a fawn so I started to walk away then he tried to run and I could see his back end fishtailing. Now this is a deer I normally would not shoot but I could see he was suffering so I put him down when I got up to him someone had shot him right below the back knee and broke it off and nicked the other leg. I already going one dead doe on my property and was not going to have another one. I wish people would not shoot just because they see a deer if they would just shoot to kill this kind of thing would not have to happen. Thankfully my step dad offered up his tag.

I pulled a cam today that was over a scrape. Up until two days ago they were still hitting that scrape! Hmmm... interesting.

I then put the camera on my turnip plot to find out who and when is tearing it to pieces! Will probably stay off it until Saturday morning and pull the card on the way in. Hoping the big boys are back. Also another update, on December 1st I have a property in Houston County that I can start hunting. Bit of a drive (2 1/2hrs) but its supposed to be well worth it!

Don't even think twice Tim, get down here and put the smack down on a buck that is still scent checking does. Saw a monster from afar the other day nosing a young doe....then bedded down near her. THE KEY IS FIND THE BEST FOOD/BEDDING AREAS.....even if you have to waste a valuable evening glassing to do it. We are getting some windy/cold weather right now, and they will start huddling up in the woods and bedding/moving very near where they feed.....

Saw a small buck on a doe tonight... I was actually driving down a dirt road checking an area I see deer near a property I hunt. Just trying to locate the deer and see if I can find what they are feeding on. Anyways... saw a tiny 8 moving a doe and then once they saw the car they scattered a bit and the three does ran across the road. That little buck didn't move and he walked right toward my truck and crossed right in front of me. He wanted that doe! Good sign. The ratios are way off in my area so there may be a decent second rut starting up!!

I was out tonight seen a bunch of deer go to a field but it was the wrong field I set up on the standing corn and they went to the plowed beans oh well I will be back after them in the morning. But what does a guy do head for the beans or stick with the corn??? Sure looked like they were useing the heck out of the corn since the snow and wind stopped

If I were you I would stick to the corn! I wish I had standing corn.. thats a hot crop for this time of year.

I havent seen a good buck on that land since slug which is odd sonce it dont get slug hunted  he is there some where I wouldnt have to be looking for him if I wouldnt have missed him 2 days before the orange army declaired war.

Not likely but possibly powdered snow on a frozen dirt path while being dark and walking in from the north in the morning shouldnt but I guess they are smart little creatures huh. This particular hunting spot has about 300 acres of crp in the crp are 2 groves and a thicket thats about 5 acres one grove has a house where the owner lives the other has nothing. Its one place I have hunted where it can be a real pain to guess what a deer is going to do if there in the crp your guess is about as good as mine on where they will go if there in the thicket it either beans or corn.
