Bridge and trail construction requires closures along Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail
(Released June 27, 2011)

A bridge and large culvert will be replaced this summer along the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, a 39-mile multi-use trail between Faribault and Mankato, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Parks and Trails.

Several other culverts will be rehabilitated, and the trail surface will be reclaimed and replaced with a new bituminous surface.

During the first phase of construction, which will continue through the end of August, the trail will be closed from the trailhead north of Mankato to 598th Avenue (west of new Blue Earth County Road 12 bridge). Parking lots at Lime Valley and State Highway 22 also will be closed.

A map showing the closures is posted at www.mndnr.gov. For construction updates and more information, visit the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail Web page at www.mndnr.gov, or call the DNR Information Center at 651-296-6157 or toll-free 888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

These trail improvements are made possible with funding from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
