a buddie at work had asked me if i know the legal distance you have to be from your truck, car, or 4wheeler to shoot a compound bow, long bow, or recurve bow at any big game animal and i told him i honestly don't know i just thought it was the same for firearms so if anyone has proof of the real anwser that would be great because we searched the web and can not find anything for legal distance fro archery thanks!

I was looking for the specific verbiage in the regs, but did not find it.  What it does says is that you cannot take game from a motor vehicle and I'll bet their definition is that if you are touching the vehicle, you are taking game from the vehicle.  My guess is that as long as you are not touching it - or shooting over a road - that you should be ok.

I looked in the reg book and could not find anything that states distance from a vehicle.
So, I asked a retired CO, he stated that is the same as firearms, muzzle loader, crossbows...anything that could be used to take big game, the same rules apply. Including the roadway rules being the same.

But, I would contact your local CO to see what they have to say....just to be sure of their view of the laws.

isn't there something about the vehicle being turned off and the doors closed? I'm probably mixing up multiple states and different game species also..

talking to the CO seems like the best advice.

Talked to the CO and was told as long as you are not touching it or shooting over it it is completley legal
