Today marks the end of the first committee deadline for the 2012 legislative session. It has been quite a week with a lot of hearings going on and issues being heard.

The big DNR issues this week revolved around the Game and Fish license increases. There appears to be some momentum around this issue as it was discussed in both the House and Senate with a bill being passed out of the Senate Environment Committee which is now SF 2490

For more information go to: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=S2490.0.html&session=ls87

In the House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee they discussed the issue and it sounds like they will be acting formally on a bill in committee early next week. As of this posting no committee schedules have been announced so stay tuned.

I am attaching a document that shows what the Governor's (DNR) proposal was on the license fee increases and also the House's and Senate's.

For more information on the DNR’s initiative go to:

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/heritage/index.html

Other bills that were heard this week include SF 1945 which is Sen. Gazelka’s Wolf bill, and the DNR’s Policy bill.

Last week the Omnibus Environment and Natural Resources policy bills came together. In the Senate it is SF 1830 (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=S1830.1.html&session=ls87)

In the House it is HF 2164 (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill.php?bill=H2164.1.html&session=ls87)

As always if you have any questions, please let me know. I can be contacted at bob.meier@state.mn.us or at 651-259-5024.

Make sure you get out and enjoy our great state's natural resources!!!

Have a good weekend,

Bob Meier
