I just had one of the guides on my rod fall off this weekend. Anybody repaired any of these or know of a good place to take it for repair? How much does it usually cost to fix them?
Thanks.

Thorne Brothers, I had one fixed on a series one steel head rod awhile back.
They did a nice job, but I can't remember how much it cost.  :sorry:

I thought I did a demo on that here.  I must not have posted it.  I can't find it anywhere.  It's easy to do.  If it's the terminal tip it's very easy.  Thorne Bros. is where I get my replacement guides and threads.  I have no idea of the cost because it takes about 5 minutes.  The part you need would be a around a buck.  Hot glue stick (if it's the tip), thread, and epoxy and you are good to go.

 I see rod tip repair kits all the time but I don't remember seeing any guide repair kits. Might be something you may have to search on line for or find on a rod building site.

I called Thorne Bros. They fix them and it sounded like they will sell you a repair kit too. Sounds like  $10 to $15 to repair the guide - not bad. Takes about a week. Looks like I will have to visit them and weigh my options.
Thanks for your thoughts and input guys.

It is not hard but tedious to do yourself especially the part when you apply the epoxy and slowly turn the rod for four hours so it lays down even without a sag. Perhaps the Wife will do that part for you. Watch out up there at Thorne Bros. you may decide to build a whole new rod when you look around.

The rod guide repair summary.

Originally Thorne Bros. told me a week to a week and a half to repair the guide and they told me $10 to $15. I watched a tutorial on YouTube and it looked like I project so I brought it in to TB. They told me 2 weeks when I dropped it off. I whined a bit and left it with them. Dropped it off last Friday, got a call on Sunday afternoon that it was done. Wow!  :happy1:
Picked it up today. $10 bucks. Wow again!  :happy1:

I can only assume they sensed my importance in the local fishing community.  ;D
Thanks Thorne Bros. - an exceptional performance in my book.

Actually Glenn57 - I did NOT say that. But I did walk out with only one rod.
