well having staved off the cold to see absolutely nuthing but have a new game plan, cause they've vacated the deep woods to hold up closer to the food source. I have completely realized that I'm in the market for a new set of boots. My Irish setter that are 15 years old have worn out the usefulness for the long sit. Working or walking is fine of course but it was all of 15 minuets an my little piggies were going weeeeee weeeee we wanna go home. so anyone have a recommendation on a good pair of hunting/long sit boots without compromising clumsiness if I wanna still hunt, nowhat i mean Vern. Affordability around 150 maybe little higher. thanks

personally... I think a man should have as many pairs of hunting boots as many types of hunts he goes on..

you need your early season walking about pheasant hunting boots.. not to heavy but water proof incase you step in a puddle.. something big enough where you can slip a wool sock in em.

also needed are you the late season walking about boot for deer drives/bow hunting.. around 1000grams water proof.

and a good pair of pack boots.. something like sliding your feet into their own sleeping bags

another trick I've been using is taking a good old wool army blanket in the woods with me.. lay it over the legs and have wrapped the boots with it a few times. quiet.. light weight and can be moved around.. this year on opener I blocked the wind with it. and it rolls up and ties to my back pack really nice.

I used to get really good deals on boots at the sportsmens guide in SSP at the warehouse.. been slim pickings the last few times through there.

Boar if you snoop around a bit I think you will find some other posts related to your question. I know I got some boots that I have been extremely happy with, warm and good for walking. Not pack boots but a close second. I want to say Danner Antelope? Cabela's for around $175?

I have a pair of Danner Pronghorns I use for pheasant hunting and ice fishing.  They have gone on five years of hard labor and I take absolutely terrible care of them.

Rocky makes a hell of a boot and even the cheaper ones seem to keep my feet warm  :happy1:
Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.
