I'm gonna go try the ice. Anybody else still able to get out?
We walked on the lake yesterday. A little waterey slush by the access.
But it looked ok, kinda hard to tell with all the snow we just got.
So, we'll take it slow.

Drove on leach yesterday in the morning and went to a different lake at 1100.  By the time we got to the second lake the wind had started to kick up and the sun started warming everything up.  Took the quad out and had a little slush.  An hour later we had standing water everywhere and toiletbowls for holes.  When we drove off the access at dark it was all 4 to 5 inches of standing water.

Went out yesterday for the last time with the snobear for the season, Ice was still good and solid yesterday in central ND.  But the edges were already getting soft, ATV's getting stuck trying to get off in the afternoon (50+F)  suppose to be warm all week.  Buddys are fishing open water on the missouri river.   Had a Great end of season trip though....fresh fried perch for dinner tonight and monday. 10.5" smallest kept.

nice perch :happy1:

We had planned to try for perch yesterday but the access we were planning on using was closed so we rolled with the punches and headed to a different access and tried for tullies.  Kept 8 nice keepers and threw back 20 plus before they slowed way down.

Here is a picture of the fish.
The crappie in the picture is 13 inches.  We had our 40 sunnies and the smallest we kept was 8.5 inches, and the largest was 10.5

Tullies are in their brine now and will be smoked tomorrow. They are my favorite smoked fish.

Wow!!  Nice pictures guys!  I was naïve and figured the season was over everywhere - I looked at the metro lakes and they are looking pretty gross.  Looks like we will get up to 70 this week down here - so the ice wont last long then.  However, it looks like the weekend will get cold again.... highs in the 40s.
Im not too keen on this bi-polar weather, as I have put away all my ice fishing stuff for the year.

Just waiting for some open water now!   :titanic:

We went out, but the fishing was slow. Drilled around a 100 holes (literally) And only caught some small sunfish, perch and a bass.

The ice was real poor, and varied all over the lake. There were 2 trucks on it by the access, but we chose to walk. And after drilling some holes, I'm glad we did. There was water on top, and you could drill a hole and watch the water siphon in.

We still had fun & got a tan.....
