it is with great angst that I post this. recently we listed our house for sale... I guess it came down to my house and some other losers house.. they took the other losers house over mind.. feedback is that my (and I hate the term) man cave was loved by the husband and hated by the misses... so I'm guessing the critters on the wall are a turn off to the sour puss tree hugger.. and I'm thinking I'm going to pull the bear rug/mule deer/antelope/and European heads off the wall and toss em in storage until we sell this place.. my issue.. I dont' I don't know how to store them.. since they're meant to be hung on a wall and appreciated.. how does one store fur on foam mounts? thinking I can toss em up in the crawl space of the garage.. but I don't want to find that rodents had a gang bang on my buck when I decide to display it again.

ideas??? I need the brain trust on this one.  maybe I should just rent a storage unit.. but same problem.. most likely not heat/cooled...

I wouldn't worry about a place not being climate controlled.  Here is where I keep mine.  In the garage.  No heat or AC and no complaints from anyone.

Mom and dads, brother or sisters,  friends?

I was a realtor for about 7 years and I had to tell people all the time to remove wildlife and political stuff.

never crossed my mind. suppose I shouldn't have the black powder rifle hanging on a set of antlers either?.. I know.. i'll put it away.

dang.. now that I'm thinking about it the antique hatchets and traps hangin on the wall of garage probably doesn't appeal to em either.  wow.. I'm just not use to giving a sheit what people think of my house.

guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. anyone know a good storage locker around forest lake??

so.. ran to home depot last night.. grabbed 5 gallons of glidden white paint.. the jug I grabbed was in the back on the clearance rack and mis tinted rack.. it was covered in dust bunnies.. but I just need some white paint to cover the walls where the nail holes were.. 52$ is what the tag said.. get up to the front check out with that and a few other things.. and the total was 20$.. I said.. that's not right I think you missed the paint. (my days of trying to sneak out with something when there is a mistake are long past). the kid calls over a manager and the manager says.. nope we can't change that, the paint is .01 cents. I say "really?" and she says "we can't change it if it rang up on the bar code"... so after the 2 of em said that was the price I walked out of there with my 5 gallons of glidden white paint for .01... I may have to swing into home depot more often.. usually I'm a menards or fleetfarm guy

That's like the time I went to Pamida to pick up a dozen carry lite decoys....I walked up with 3, 4-packs (I seen what they had priced for a single deek) She rang it up, and each 4-pack had came up as the single deek price...well, after discussing it with the manager and store clerk for 15 min.....and they kept saying "it is what it is".....I walked outta there with 8 dozen decoys (cause that's all they had)

We probably all got a story where we got the "deal of the year" on something or another.  Good stories to hear.  A few years back I was outfitting my son in laws boat.  While getting parts at Wall Mart, I saw a Minn Kota Power Drive V2 24 volt motor for $159.  Having been looking for a motor, I knew these went for $700-$800.  I had the Sporting guy check the price and he said that it was correct.  (They later had to call him to checkout to verify the price).  At any rate, they wouldn't take a dollar more than the marked price.

A climate controlled situation is the best Beeker. I would not store them long term in the garage.
Think of your mounts in the terms of leather boots or shoes. You get them wet, then dry them out and they always have that tight stiff feeling right...... Then stuff starts cracking, expanding and contracting. A mount is the same. Leather under that hair. They can take on moisture, dry out just the same. Expand and contract, and crack. The more stable environment they are in the better. They can also be subject to bugs and rodents. Today's processes don't contain the chemicals of years past, and even the best work is subject to bug infestation and rodent damage if not properly cared for and stored!
Good luck selling that house!
