Wisconsin opener will be opening this Saturday without me. The lake I fish is the second deepest inland lake in WI. The water temps are exactly the same as Lake Michigan up until about the 3rd week in May. I can wait till the water temps start to rise and the fish become more active. Years back I'd be out there at 12:01 am for opener with the rest of the nut jobs. We would all beat the dead sea together. Since then I've learned to control my enthusiasm.

PS.

Take good care of ma ma corn and I hope she has a speedy recovery

The Sauk river.

We have three different Hot spots if there not in one they will be in one of the others so bring on the wind and rain and snow.
We set up our double ground  blind and heater  and wait for the bite

My opener will be around June 1st. Work, family, turkeys, and some land prep for the deer season.

Well, my first Minnesota opener in 6 years was a success!  Was able to get out and spend some quality time with my father as well as catch a few fish!  We didn't catch a ton of fish but the ones we did catch were all nice fish.  Ended up with 5 fish over 24" and 3 between 16 and 19".  Hope everyone had a great opener!  All the big eyes went back to fight another day!

Nice fish Casey.

Number two son was putting in docks on Lake Miltona North of Alexandria Saturday. They talked to one of the DNR guys checking and washing boats at access. The guy he talked to told him they had done about 35 to 40 boats by Noon.........two walleyes was all they had seen between all of the boats.

My brother went to Mille Lacs. We fish SE area of lake... He caught a few fish all over the slot. They didn't even launch the boat. All were caught off the dock. Had a good weekend and saw some decent reports. Most guys catching fish were over the slot as it has been the past couple years. There are no new year classes coming up. Future does not look bright on Mille Lacs.

I heard Mille Lacs looked pretty bare (more bare than usual) - the lake is on the decline, tough to see that happen.  Alot of the landings werent full - not nearly the amount of fisherman as usual, they probably found other lakes to fish this year.
I havent fished the opener in a few years - I will be headed up to the DL area in a few weeks to try my luck for the early June walleyes.

MTCOMMER - You are right. Said there wasn't half the traffic there usually is. Was it the weather and late ice to blame or the state of the fishery. I'd say a little bit of both.
