so... a few years ago I asked the board (brain trust) about chainsaw chaps.. well I ended up getting a pair.. and today.. I ruined my chainsaw chaps by hitting them with the chainsaw. stupid.. my foot rolled back on a small log and the saw swung and hit my upper thigh on the chaps.. enough so I felt the chain start tearing into the chaps.. I pulled my leg back and the saw in the other direction. just in the nick of time.. I didn't break the skin and didn't jam up the saw with that chaps.  I feel very lucky after that.. stupid. just rushing to get some wood split and didn't take the time to get good footing and clean up a bit as I go.

just a heads up.. if your thinking it can't happen to you.. it can happen just like that. now to get a new pair without the wife finding out what I did.. she worries when I'm out in the woods doing man stuff.

:happy1:  Good for you Beeker, chaps don't do any good sitting in the pickup. I fell a lot of trees when I was running my landscaping business and hard hats were a must and my biggest peeve was people not wearing eye protection. I was dumb enough to be looking up when one of my guys was limbing up in a tree and never saw the sawdust that fell into my eye. Scratched it and spent five days with an eye patch, all I had to do was had a pair of glasses on and I would have been fine. Smart wearing your chaps, I have seen what a chainsaw can do and it is not pretty, buddy Chuck took his big toe off. Of course that is why I would charge the big bucks anytime I started the chainsaw up I do believe it is still the number one home injury maker.

good point boar. no point in buying safety stuff and leaving at home. we were on he back side of our property also.. it would have been a tough ride out.

I think you deserve an atta boy as well! I got a scar on my forehead cause I was stupid (kick back) So, now, safety is job one. Lesson learned the hard way....but it could have been way worse.

What brand of chaps did you have and what do they cost. My wife is going to by me a pair for christmas.
